Setup cannot update file I think this is Vista problem but it can also be Office 2003 problem. Here it goes: I'm setting up Office 2003 Pro (open license edition) on Vista Business SP1. The OS has the latest patches installed. While running setup, after choosing Typical Setup selection, I get the following error: Error 1913. Setup cannot update file C:\Windows\system32\mapisvc.inf. Verify that the file exists in your system and that you have sufficient permissions to update it. The only thing that works is Cancel setup which rolls everything back. I can't install Office 2003. I'm using Administrator domain account to install Office 2003. MAPISVC.INF file has the following permissions: 1) TrustedInstaller - Full Control (Inherited From Parent Object) 2) Administrators (machinename\Administrators - Read & Execute (Inherited From Parent Object) 3) SYSTEM - Read & Execute (Inherited From Parent Object) 4) Users (machinename\Users) - Read & Execute (Inherited From C:\Windows\System32\) I have never seen TrustedInstaller group. What is that? How can I find out Administrator is a member of TrustedInstaller group? More importantly, how can I install Office 2003 on Vista machine? I am the admin on this computer, heck i'm the only person on this computer. I have full control! I went and looked for the mapisvc.inf file In the windows32 files and it is indeed gone. How or why it went missing I have no idea but it is missing. Does anyone know how I can replace it so I may reinstall my office programs.
