Error 193 Installing Package Altiris
deployment server, i keep getting errors when trying to distrubute packages. error 193 installing package error 3 locating package. i have tried to recreate the jobs manually and run them again, but some configuration doesnt seem right. Any ideas? I just recreated a job using the full unc path \\server\share\package.exe this solved it for the new one, but all the old jobs are using a drive path like Z:\share\package.exe uk_network, May 11, 2011 #1 andykn Altiris Guru Sounds like your Z: drive isn't getting mapped properly. andykn, May 11, 2011 #2 uk_network New Member hi andy, i have checked on the DS server and disconnected and remapped the drive (via my computer add network drive) and the package still fails. is there any other areas where i can check this? uk_network, May 11, 2011 #3 dfrancis Member If memory serves me correctly, drive mappings are per user. So if Bob is logged in and has Z: mapped, but the install is running as a service account, the service account won't know anything about Z: You'd probably be best off doing your installs via UNC path. If not, you'll probably want to add a net use command to the top of your run script task to map Z: appropriately before running your install. dfrancis, May 11, 2011 #4 uk_network New Member I can give that a try too, what is strange is that this all worked via z:\share i have a sneaky suspicion our new guy has been 'having a play' but am not sure. I will just go into and edit the old jobs to be a full unc path instead of pointing at the share. uk_network, May 11, 2011 #5 uk_network New Member Figured out the cause, some donut changed the vmware nic for one with an updated driver, and when he did the card was dhcp and gave the server a different address. when i changed the ip back to static and restarted the server all seemed well. uk_network, May 26, 2011 #6 andykn Altiris Guru That's useful, thanks for letting us know. andykn, May 26, 2011 #7 (You must log in or sign up to reply here.) Adobe Digital Editions Preview 1 When I deploy a Altiris job on one machine it comes up with "Error 193 during script execution" The job simply runs a vbscript to install a .msi and works fine on other machines Any ideas? 0 Comments [ + ] Show Comments Comments Please log in to comment Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,so that the conversation will remain readable. After predefining the computer we would schedule an imaging job and start the laptop. It would boot into PXE, pick up the scheduled imaging job, and then reboot itself and start the image. Now, when turning on the laptop it boots to PXE and presents 3 options for boot (which it has never done before, it would just boot to WinPE_PXE). After selecting what we believe is the correct option, it will boot but now just sits there. It's as if it is not picking up the scheduled imaging job like it has done in the past. I'm unsure what could have changed. Anyone have a suggestion on where to start please? Using Altiris 7.1. Thank you! 7765411 1349268252
