I got two hard drives on my system . sda and sdb . sda disk is 1TB and had windows https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=165141 7 installed in all of its capacity (prior the arch installation). The other hard drive sdb is 270GB and had Ubuntu installed . sdb has Grub installed also. I decided to install Arch and go triple boot . I followed roughly this installation without the part where the guy installs grub. I chose that after installing arch i will go to Ubuntu and update my grub with sudo update-grub and so did i. Grub updated succesfully and i got one addition to the menu of Grub (Arch on /dev/sda5). Also i want to report that i used gpartedlive Usb to make my arch partitions. After booting to Arch i was getting the above message which is difficult to decrypt but i know that is something subtle. I just can't get my head around it.-- mod edit: read the Forum Etiquette and only post thumbnails http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/For … s_and_Code [jwr] -- Last edited by Vaios (2013-06-14 18:29:16) Offline #2 2013-06-13 20:53:45 mychris Member From: Munich Registered: 2012-09-15 Posts: 67 Re: [SOLVED]Proble

I'm just trying to turn-it on and there is an error GRUB ERROR 2 ..., and nothing else. The guy on the shop just tweaked a few things on the BIOS to show me the HDD capacity, boot error 2 however I just reset everything in BIOS to the default. Does anyone knows what's the problem? grub suse share|improve this question edited Aug 15 at 21:36 Hennes 50.8k775120 asked Oct 3 '12 at 17:23 Mahdi 1203 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote Grub error 2 means "Bad File or Directory Type", the grub.conf is not set up properly. You may need to reinstall the Distro. You can also look at this site and see if it is of any help. http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/installation/127502-grub-error-2-a.html Anyway, something is clearly wrong with the boot loader. I can't help any more than that though. share|improve this answer answered Oct 3 '12 at 17:29 Josiah 1,4343920 thanks man, I had found the same info on the 'net ... let see if any other one could help ... thanks by the way! :) –Mahdi Oct 3 '12 at 17:40 add a comment| You must log in to answer this question.
