up my network connection. Environment: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 I've searched all over the net and tried various fixes, including many from this site: DHCP Client - "Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified" when I try to start it in the Services. All dependencies are there: AFD, Tdx (NetIO), Network Store Interface Service. I've tried sfc /scannow and came up clean. netsh int ip reset C:\reset.log netsh winsock reset catalog Added permissions to registry keys for dhcp and tcpip. Device Manager (show hidden) has AFD, tdx, NSI all running and set to start at boot. Restore points are gone, so not a possible solution. Thanks in advance! I am doing a swing migration from a 2008 Standard Server install error 2 the to 2008 R2 SP1. All has gone well, up until trying to migrate over the DHCP config. I was reading how "easy" it was now, just backup from current/old DHCP server, then restore to new. Simple as that...well not in my case. I followed all of the steps, but when I try to restore onto the new server, the DHCP service stop and start again and then just after I get: "The database was not restored correctly. No changes were made. For more information, please see Event Viewer on the specified server." And a short journey over there reveals: Event 1019,DHCP Server The DHCP service failed to restore the DHCP registry configuration. The following error occurred: The system cannot find the file specified. I am not sure why this is happening. Do I need to create a scope first on the new server?
