Hi, We're running CIC 2.4x SU 24. When we email recordings to a MacIntosh user, they are not able to play them. One of the user's experiences has been: - I clicked on it in Apple Mail and it opened iTunes and did NOT play. However, this is because my machine is configured to play .WAV files in iTunes. - As a workaround, I saved the file to my desktop and tried to play it through the Finder (like Windows Explorer) - did NOT work. - I opened it with QuickTime and was told "An invalid track was found in the movie" - a standard QT error. - As a last attempt, I installed VLC Media Player and opened with it, but it did NOT work. The other users are primarily getting the "An Invalid track..." error message when trying to play the Interaction Recorder wav files. Has anyone come across this issue? If yes, how did you resolve it so that MacIntosh users can play Interaction Recorder wav files? Thanks! Macintosh does not include that codec, so it cannot play them. You should probably change the IC server to compress using the GSM codec option, so folks can play the recordings on Macintosh and Vista machines. DP 4.6.1, OS 10.4.4, G4 dual 1.25. earache Posts: 11Joined: Wed Oct 20, 2004 10:01 pm Primary DAW OS: Unspecified Top by magicd » Thu Feb 16, 2006 3:37 pm This is a Quicktime error described as "invalid track". DP uses Quicktime to extract http://community.inin.com/forums/showthread.php?3125-Recorder-wav-files-not-playing the audio track from a movie, so if there is a problem with the audio track in the movie, it makes sense that you'd get that error when trying to extract audio from the movie from within DP. Where did you get the movie? How was it created? Can you play the movie in Quicktime player? Do you hear audio when you do? Do you have the latest version of Quicktime installed? If you have Quicktime Pro, can you export http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10107&highlight=2009 the audio track that way? The movie came from a client - it plays fine in Quicktime and also when opened in DP. I guess I can always record the sound into DP via SoundFlower. I really should spring for Quicktime Pro - I've used Adobe Premiere but they've dropped their Mac support and it only works in OS9. earache Posts: 11Joined: Wed Oct 20, 2004 10:01 pm Primary DAW OS: Unspecified Top by MIDI Life Crisis » Thu Feb 16, 2006 4:24 pm earache wrote:Thanks, Dave. The movie came from a client - it plays fine in Quicktime and also when opened in DP. If you have QT Pro, you might "save as" a new self-contained movie under a new title or export the elements to seperate files. This would allow QT to rebuild the files correctly (at least hopefully). 2013 Mac Pro 32GB RAMOSX 10.11.5; DP 9.1; Track 16http://www.MIDILifeCrisis.com MIDI Life Crisis Posts: 23274Joined: Wed May 18, 2005 10:01 pm Primary DAW OS: MacOS Website Top by chrispick

The cause is a wrong AudioType code in the MP4 container. The correct should be 64, but some encoders put this code as 103. To change this I use mp4UI (http://mp4ui.sourceforge.net/). The steps are:1. open mp4ui2. Go to the options tab3. Disable Add hint tracks, make ISMA compliant, optimize on close and enable Advanced functions/information4. go to the general tab and open your mp4 file5. right click on the audio track(s) and choose set properties in the advance submenu6. in the preset list choose AudioType, change the value to 64 and click OK7. Click on close and try to open your file with quicktime. It should work. It has worked for me with about a hundred files...Good Luck! Helpful (0) Reply options Link t

Lets start with the basics please, and please be more detailed in future posts. 1. What recording software are you using? 2. Specifically, Can you please provide me with the URL of the video(s) you're trying to record and playback using quicktime? 3. What happens when you try playing back the recorded video with another media player (i.e. windows media player, flv player, real player, etc). We'll move forward accordingly based on your responses. Let me know if this helps. Best Regards, Tasha Heinlein Applian Technologies, Inc.
