Exhausted every article and suggestion I've run across, so I hope the community can help! In my pursuit of an answer for this, I hope it can serve a dual purpose and become useful information for other developers https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1059740 going down this road. For some, you may see the content and figure TL;DR, but I'm hoping to answer any questions that might otherwise span several messages. The goal is to use a "binary socket" to communicate between a Flash App and a custom socket server I'm working on. I soon discovered you need to have a "crossdomain.xml" file to allow the Flash Application to communicate over sockets.I develop under Windows 7 64-bit, using Flash Professional CS6, Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 and hosting under IIS.Eventually I plan on hosting the Flash Application and crossdomain.xml on a remote server, but for the purpose of developing this I wanted to try to keep everything on a single development workstation. My Policy Socket Server module gets the Flash Application request and sends back the correct response. sandbox violation in Flash AS3 Posted on November 5, 2012 by Paul Firth TweetHello and welcome back to my blog! This time I wanted to talk http://www.wildbunny.co.uk/blog/2012/11/05/fixing-security-sandbox-violation-in-flash-as3/ about the dreaded Security sandbox violation error which Flash will sometimes throw https://www.kirupa.com/forum/showthread.php?326772-XMLSocket-quot-Error-2048-Security-sandbox-violation-quot at you when you're working with external websites, or sockets, or file access across local/web. What is a security sandbox violation? Flash applications run inside a security sandbox which prevents them from accessing data they shouldn't be. For example if your application is web-based, it will be forbidden error #2048 from accessing files on a user's local hard drive. If the application is not web-based then it will be forbidden from accessing the web. You can read more about these two types here. When an application attempts to access data outside of its sandbox, you will see an error which looks similar to this: ********* Security Sandbox Violation ***** Connection error #2048 security to
