Answers 0 Launching an installation from a system account, like the scheduler service, may result in the 2103 error. This can occur if you are initiating a per-user installation. Only per-machine installations are permitted from the system account because the system account does not have all of the necessary per-user profile folders. Also, for Microsoft Office and several other setups, this behavior has been reported to occur if the following registry key is missing or damaged: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders For details see, OFF2000: "Internal Error 2103" Error Message Is Displayed During Setup Answered 04/19/2004 by: AppDeploy.com Please log in to comment Please log in to comment Answer this question or Comment on this question for clarity AnswerSubmit Don't be a Stranger! Another question, Is there an easy way to uninstall an application which has been installed through sms ? Now we are using GPO' s to distribute applications and when I remove a user from a security group the application will be uninstalled automatically. Is there an easy way to do this with SMS ? thanks. #3 mwheeler Total Posts : 7 Scores: 0 Reward points : 15180 Joined: 11/17/2003 Status: offline RE: RE: Install package, Internal error 2103. 26 Wednesday, June 02, 2004 4:06 AM (permalink) 0 One way to do this is to create a new program in the SMS package you want to uninstall, name it something like " WinZip Uninstallation" . In the command line of your new program use the following MSI command syntax msiexec.exe /X " Winzip.msi" /qn NOTE, make sure you have the correct MSI name otherwise the deinstall will fail. You can also use the product code instead of the MSI name. MsiExec.exe /X " {9632F551-D8FC-45E9-833E-1D690AFFDFB0}" /qn /X = uninstall /qn = Silent no GUI. Create a new advert selecting the unistall program you have just created. I use this for deinstalling MSI' s via SMS throughout my company, works very well. #4 pmol Total Posts : 265 Scores: 4 Reward points : 0 Joined: 5/2/20
