When I go into Management > Operators, and add my name from the list of available Exchange addresses, I send a test message which pops up an error stating:"Error 22022: SQLServerAgent Error: The SQLServerAgent mail session is not running; check the mail profile and/or the SQLServerAgent service startup account in the SQLServerAgent Properties dialog."Can't seem to find the solution. Ideas? When I try to test the e-mail, I get the following message: Error 22022: SQLServerAgent Error: The http://serverfault.com/questions/40139/how-do-i-enable-e-mail-alerts-in-sqlserver SQLServerAgent mail session is not running; check the mail profile and/or the SQLServerAgent service startup account in the SQLServerAgent Properties dialog. When I open [Server].Management.[SQL Server Agent] in Enterprise Manager, The only option that seems at all relevant is the "Mail Session" section; but the "Mail Profile" field (and everything else in the box) has been grayed out. Following are the steps i did while configuring sql mail: 1. Created one domin account (Administrator) 2. Login into the system with domain account (OS:Windows Server 2003) 3. Installed MS Office 2003 4. Configured one email account with "SQLMailService" as profile name 5. Opened Enterprise Manager from Start > Programs > Microsoft SQL Server sql server error > Enterprise Manager. Next, right-clicked on SQL Server and chosen Properties, then choose the Security tab. Under the Startup Service Account, given the domain account user name and password EX: User name: domain-name\ password: xxxxxxxx 6.Next expanded SQL Server > Management, then right-click on SQL Server Agent and chosen Properties . On the General Page, under the Service Startup Account given the domain account user name and password. And in the Mail Session given the out look profile name and clicked on "Test", Successfully started ( and stopped) a mail session with this profile message came. 7. Expanded Support Services folder and clicked on Properties of SQL Mail. Here also given the same Out look profile name and clicked on Test button, Successfully started ( and stopped) a MAPI session with this profile message came. 8. Expanded Management -> SQL Server Agent, right click on Operators and selected new operator. I installed outlook client on the server, can open the mail box, but when i go to the properties of the operator i have setup and pick a name from out outlook list, and click test, i get the following error:error 22022:sqlserver agent error. The SQLSERVERAgent Mail session is not running; check the mail profile and/or the sqlserver agent service startup account.The mail profile is fine and the sqlserver agent service is started so i am a little bit stumped at the moment.Anyone any ideas?Joe RE: error 22022 cooperman1275 (Programmer) 12 Oct 04 10:34 Hi JoeOne sure way to get this working is to have an account with Domain Admin permissions for your network etc. and it should also be given a valid MAPI profile so that it can be used to send and receive emails.The account can then be configured as the startup account for the MSSQLSERVER and SQLSERVERAGENT services and put into the SQL Mail Configuration as the required profile name.Then re-boot the server so that the account starts the services.Only drawback is to remember to change the all the passwords held separately against the service start ups should the password need to be be changed in the future.Hope this helpsDave RE: error 22022 joeythelips (IS/IT--Management) (OP) 13 Oct 04 04:17 Hi Dave.i log onto the sql server as admini
