I'm piggy-backing onto this help message and hope that there is an answer somewhere out there. I subscribe to Audible .com and used to use Audible Manager to burn audiobooks to CD. Now with the iPOD I use the software that imports the books directly into iTunes. Apparently I can't have both. I've created a playlist for the Audible file, acknowledged that I want it burned as an Audio CD, inserted a brand new CD-R in my CD drive and have successfully burned the first part. When it finishes, I am asked to insert the next disk and after a few minutes, this one fails. This has happened with three different books, always on the second disk. The error message I get is the same as the one Michelle reported. I can find no mention of this on the apple support site. What is happening? Initially I had the itunes 4280 burn error message, which mean't that the burn process was cancelled and the cd-r was turned into a useless 'coaster' (It had the playlist but no actual tracks). I tried ALL the various solutions across all forums: 1. Uninstall drivers for my Matshita (In Sony Vaio laptop) cd/dvd drive and replace them. Eventually found out that these drivers are native to windows and its best for them to be installed by the OS on boot up. So uninst

Apple also has the same information in thier help section. I was wondering though if the information can still apply even IF I dont have a Sony drive. If not I dont't understand why the problem hasn't been noticed in a bigger way yet. I have downloaded the latest version of itunes and researched the error on the apple website and HP website and still have not found an answer to my problem. Does anyone have a fix for this issue? Thanks for your time. CDs. It starts to initialize, then it says "canceling disc burn," and then I get an error message that reads "The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred. (4280)." It's always been like that, and up until now, I've just been using my pre-iPod MusicMatch software to burn CDs, but now with all my playlists organized in iTunes, it would be so much easier if it would just work. Anyone know what the deal is? I've tried two different brands of blank disks. I actually was able to burn via itunes, but it doesn't work anymore. I didn't install anything new on that PC, except Windows-Updates. I am having the same problem with another model drive and had no luck with the sony fix either. It appears that Itunes is installing some CDROM filter driver made called Gear works, I suspect that this is what is causing the problem.. Since I started getting this error I cant burn in any application. I have already swapped an identical drive as well.
