The programm runs on a server, and the code I use, runs there for a long time. I update some code in the programm, not in this particulier module and now when I run it on a 2003 small business server it comes up whit that error. Give up your guns and face the law!! Getting "you do not have the appropriate license to use this functionality" error. On the client (winnt 4sp6) I have used regsvr32 to unregister and re-register all *.dll and *.ocx files identified in the dependency file list without fixing the problem. I have a usercontrol ocx (chkframe.ocx) that I have put a componentone truedb7 grid on - could that be the problem? I have hit a wall here and need some help. Thanks, John Reply With Quote 02-08-2002,07:17 AM #2 willy van den Driessche Guest Re: Error 429: you do not have the appropriate license... This error generally occurs when you try to use a licensed activeX control in development mode (like the VB IDE, excel or word visual basic, ...). In order to use it you need to register the control with the setup program that came with it. The TrueDB stuff qualifies as a control in need of a license key so this might be correct. In general you don't need the license key to deploy your app. The error also occurs when you app uses a licensed control but the control is not registred on the machine. In that case it replaces the more commonly cursed "ActiveX can't create object". There is one small gotcha here which relates to the Controls.Add method (dynamic creation of controls on the screen). If you want to do that it has to be in the VB global Licenses collection (a built-in collection à la Forms). You can always use Licenses.Add xxxx to add a license but you need to check carefully if that doesn't make you break the policiy of the control vendor. Hope this helps, Van den Driessche Willy.
