to the microsoft knowledgebase although there are numerous articles on there there is no specific resolution I should follow in order to resolve the problem. I'd like to wave my magic wand, but oh well... Try this: Open Access, create a new, blank mdb file. Close and reopen this blank file, to make sure you don't have some sort of Access installation trouble. Then using File > Get External Data > Import, point to your "bad" mdb file in the https://forums.techguy.org/threads/access-97-runtime-error-429.51516/ dialog, then select all objects on all tabs. See what happens; if it imports correctly, you should be in business. If not, it may be that the old file needs repair, and you should not try opening it, but rather compact and repair. Keep us posted. Go to another computer in the office and see if you can open the database from there. If you can, there is a component that has been installed in the local copy of Access that needs to be removed. In my case I inadvertantly added a control for ICQ.....duh Rockn, Aug 23, 2001 #3 $horty Joined: Nov 10, 1999 Messages: 69 hi, You have an activeX control in that database that needs to be registered with that copy of access. It could be something obvious, like a calender control, clock, something on a form, or something less obvious like a progress bar or whatever. If you open access (i am assuming 97) & go to tools -> active x controls.. All the ones in the box are registered to your c

It is also fully functional from my coworker's machine. However, when taken to another building that is part of our organization, we cannot get the database to run. We know that part of the problem is within opening a connection to the web server that holds the central database (there are several copies of this Access database that consist of the same code, but different data is input into them and uploaded to this central database). Here is the code. Public Function updateSqlServer(TransType As String, SqlCommand As Variant) As Boolean Dim xmldom As New MSXML2.DOMDocument40 Dim xmlhttp As New MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP40 Const SoapServer = "http://www.example.com/webservice.asp" 'setup the XMLHTTP object and POST envelope to SoapServer toResolve = 5 * 1000 toConnect = 5 * 1000 toSend = 15 * 1000 toReceive = 15 * 1000 xmlhttp.setTimeouts toResolve, toConnect, toSend, toReceive xmlhttp.Open "POST", SoapServer, False 'YIELDS Run-Time Error 429 on this line: xmlhttp.Open xmlhttp.setReque

I'm experiencing the same error! Except this is with Visual Basic Applications in Excel. To fix my problem, I had to go to the VB Editor and click on the References Menu and make sure VB is referencing the DAO Object Library v3.6 (previously it was referencing DAO Object Library v3.51). #8 StormRider, Jul 10, 2001 StormRider Diamond Member Joined: Mar 12, 2000 Messages: 8,325 Likes Received: 0 I did a search in MS Technet for your problem.
