Using Forums > Off-Topic Posts (Do Not error 429 activex windows 7 Post Here) Question 0 Sign in to vote I have a Word 2007 VBA macro that makes a runtime error 429 activex component can't create object windows xp simple ftp transfer from local to remote machine, using a control from MSINET.OCX. It runs fine on my development machine, which is XP sp2 with VB 2008 Express installed. When I run
Runtime Error 429 Activex Component Can't Create Object Windows 8
on another machine, same setup but without VB 2008 express, the macro bombs at:Set ftp = New InetCtlsObjects.InetI get a error 429 cannot create object...InetCtlsObjects.Inet is defined by MSINET.OCX, which also has some dependencies. I have checked to make sure MSINET.OCX and the dependents are registered on the problem machine, but I was wondering this:Do some/all ActiveX controls actually have licensing info? runtime error 429 activex component can't create object windows 10 In other words, even if I have MSINET.OCX and all of its dependent ActiveX controls registered on the target machine, could the create object process continue to fail for the only reason that the OCX files were not installed by a licensed program such as VB Express but were manually installed by me? In which case not only does the development machine need a VB license but any machines the application gets deployed to? I find this unlikely but would be interested in feedback. where I need to download files from an FTP site for processing. Ideally, I'd like to get a list of the files into an array first, then skip over the files http://www.vbaexpress.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-960.html that begin with "AB" - but that would be a grace note. The crux of my problem is the download portion. I've been trying to use this code (set up to test code only), but keep https://www.codeweavers.com/support/forums/general/?t=26;msg=104787 getting a "Run-time error '429' ActiveX component can't create object" error. Sub ftptest() Dim DidIGetIt As Boolean DownloadFile "ftp://aValidFTPsite (ftp://avalidftpsite/)", "username", "password", _ "I want my sample file.txt", _ "C:\Temp\DOWNLOADED SampleFile.txt" MsgBox DidIGetIt End Sub Function error 429 DownloadFile(ByVal HostName As String, _ ByVal UserName As String, _ ByVal Password As String, _ ByVal RemoteFileName As String, _ ByVal LocalFileName As String) As Boolean Dim FTP as Inet Set FTP = New Inet With FTP .Protocol = icFTP .RemoteHost = HostName .UserName = UserName .Password = Password .Execute .URL, "Get " + RemoteFileName + " " + LocalFileName Do While .StillExecuting DoEvents Loop DownloadFile = (.ResponseCode = 0) End error 429 activex With Set FTP = Nothing End Function I've got my references to Microsoft Internet Transfer Control 6.0 and ActiveX plugin set up, and no matter what I do, same problem. :dunno Suggestions? Anyone? Beuhler? Beuhler? PS: for some reason the VBA formatting thingie thinks its funny to stick colour references in lines 5 & 7 of the function, and muck about with the indents. Edit as needed, sorry & thanks. smozgur09-21-2004, 06:11 AMPlease try following macro. Option Explicit Sub ftptest() MsgBox DownloadFile("ftp://aValidFTPsite", "username", "password", _ "I want my sample file.txt", _ "C:\Temp\DOWNLOADED SampleFile.txt") End Sub Function DownloadFile(ByVal HostName As String, _ ByVal UserName As String, _ ByVal Password As String, _ ByVal RemoteFileName As String, _ ByVal LocalFileName As String) As String Dim FTP As InetCtlsObjects.Inet Set FTP = New InetCtlsObjects.Inet With FTP .URL = HostName .Protocol = 2 .UserName = UserName .Password = Password .Execute , "Get " + RemoteFileName + " " + LocalFileName Do While .StillExecuting DoEvents Loop DownloadFile = .ResponseInfo End With Set FTP = Nothing End Function Suat Wizard09-21-2004, 07:26 AMIt choked out on the line "Set FTP = New InetCtlsObjects.Inet", Error msg: "Run-time error '429' ActiveX component can't create object." Reply to Thread Back to Threads ActiveX error diagnosis - please help YeeP Posted 2011-04-11 15:21 I am getting the "Run-time error '429' : ActiveX component cant create object" error when I try to run this program. I am sure there are some things I can include in the bottle with it that may help, but I don't know how to diagnose what these things may be. I found this, which deals with ActiveX errors: http://www.codeweavers.com/support/tickets/browse/?ticket_id=749692; , but I still get the error. I tried to install Flash 10 activex. The install did not complete, and that also looks like it is for web services. The software I am trying to install is not in the "supported list", but this is a fairly simple piece of software as far as what it requires from windows..... Visual Basic maybe? I emailed the designer and asked them for assumed requirements on the install. Hopeful I will hear back. Is there a way for me to debug the running of this software so I can hunt down what is required? Thanks. edited by YeeP on 2011-04-11 15:24 YeeP Posted 2011-04-11 15:43 The software designer helped me very much by showing me the list of drivers required. Here is the list from a batch file used on the install. regsvr32 /u /s msflxgrd.ocx regsvr32 /u /s comdlg32.ocx regsvr32 /u /s msbind.dll regsvr32 /u /s mswinsck.ocx regsvr3
