Remove From My Forums Answered by: Access Denied - Base windows error 5 access is denied python Filter Engine Windows Server > Windows Server General Forum Question 0 Sign in to vote Dear base filtering engine access denied windows 7 Experts, I have setup a Win 2k8 server standard edition SP2 and it was running without any problems. Suddenly I saw a bluescreen (I suppose http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/333792-bfe-base-filtering-engine-error-5-access-denied-windows-firewall.html this is because of a new Bluetooth driver I added). Now I cantget the network working so as the windows firewall. I suppose the problem is because of "Base Filtering Engine" saying "Access Denied". What can be the reason? I copied the BFE registry settings from a server working well and https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/d8e59632-fca9-4bbd-b748-881af144706a/access-denied-base-filter-engine?forum=winservergen tried importing, but no success yet. If this account does not have the permissions to query the configuration of a service, you will receive this error. The blog recommended by Syed is to resolve this kind of issues. I understand that you have tried to import registry key from another computer; however, the suggestions listed in the blog are different f
Startup Problems? The Base Filtering Engine (BFE) service is an important network component that's targeted by many malware. If the BFE service doesn't start, many services such as Windows Firewall, Routing and Remote Access and other services fail to start.Should the BFE service be missing http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/fix-base-filtering-engine-service-startup-problems/ from the Services MMC, or if the Action Center warns you that the Windows Firewall isn't enabled, then it's highly likely that your system is under attack. Have it checked thoroughly using a reputed anti-malware http://serverfault.com/questions/638459/base-filtering-engine-fails-to-start-error-5-access-denied-server-2008-r2 tool or you may seek professional help to eliminate malware. Trying to repair these services when a malware is on-board your system, isn't going to help in most cases. This post assumes that you've done a error 5 malware cleanup, and looking for information on how to fix the services such as BFE, Windows Firewall and others.First (and probably the only) thing most of us do to reinstate the Base Filtering Engine Service is to import the service registry keys from a similar computer, which is actually a correct step. But this only enlists the service in the Services MMC, but the required service Permissions aren't assigned error 5 access automatically. Due to missing special permissions for the BFE service, the following errors occur when you try to turn on the BFE or Windows Firewall. Some of the error messages you may see:Action Center can't turn on Windows FirewallTurning it on via Windows Firewall control panel, may show up error Windows Firewall can't change some of your settings. Server 2008 R2 up vote 0 down vote favorite We had a major server fault over the weekend where some hard drives and the mainboard's raid controller failed. Mainboard and HDD's replaced - the Windows Server 2008 R2 is loading up, but many of the network applications cannot be access from the connected computers. This IS NOT a DC, it DOES NOT perform DHCP or DNS, but it DOES provide dial-in VPN access for remote users. The server can access the internet fine - because I can connect to it via TeamViewer - but there are a number of services that will not start since the hardware recovery. Also - the Teamviewer application is generating a new ID every single time it is run, so that also makes me think there is an underlying network issue. Initially, DHCP client service, TCPIP NetBIOS helper, Network Location Awareness and a few other services would not start. After some registry changes to allow SERVICE, LOCAL SERVICE and NETWORK SERVICE permissions on a few of these problematic services; and adding LOCAL SERVICE and NETWORK SERVICE to the Administrators group; most of these services are now running, and some of the network capability is back. However, none of the client computers can access the SQL database application we use and a number of other network apps... It appears that the Base Filtering Engine, which is a dependent service for Windows Firewall, Diagnostic Policy Service an
