System Error 5 Has Occurred Windows 7
Where I work, our computers aren't connected to the internet for security purposes. My computer runs Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit. Recently, we've been having issues with logging onto Access Databases that have linked tables that live on system error 5 windows 10 a server called \\Stratus, that I believe runs Windows Server 2008 R2. Access can't connect to Stratus because the clock on the user's computer is too different from the clock on Stratus. This is due to a 'security feature' on Windows Server 2008. IT has a logon script that runs on every computer when the user logs on, which runs the following command: Net time \\Stratus /set /y This retrieves the time from Stratus and sets error 5 access is denied windows 7 the computer to that time, so the computer time and server time are in sync, preventing the issue above. Recently this script seems to have stopped working, meaning the time on the computers is not correct, causing the problem I listed above to occur. Running this command in a cmdwindow results in the following error: System error 1314: a required privilege is not held by the user. I received this error while running the command on my profile, where I am the computer administrator. What is going on here? If I right click cmd and select Run as administrator, I can run the command successfully. Anyone have any insight on this problem? Was there a recent update to windows that hosed this command? 0 Back to top #2 Wingman Wingman Mild-mannered Elder Geek Admin 9,343 posts Gender:Male Location:East Coast, USA Posted 13 March 2015 - 09:22 AM While there may be members that have Server expertise, the majority of TEG members only deal with home/personal computers and are not equipped to deal with "server" issues. Espero que te haya sido de utilidad. trying to run the Net View or Net Time command at command line. This error usually pops up when one system tries to access the other system over the network. Operating System affected with System error 5 are: All versions of Windows 2003 All versions of Windows XP Error appearing on the screen System error 5 has occurred.
Access is denied. What should I do to fix the System error 5 issue? On a network there are many systems connected with different operating systems. When a system running Windows XP tries to access another system using Windows Vista or higher using the Net View command, the âSystem error 5â is generated. The primary reason behind this is permissions which are not granted to the XP system to access the Vista computer. When full control to a system is not granted, the User Access Control (UAC) in Windows Vista also does not grant admin rights to local users automatically, even if the system is part of the administrative group. The main reasons for this system error 5 are: Time Synchronization Issues The account trying to access is disabled or doesnât exist on the domain. Missing Permission to access remote computer How to resolve System Error 5 To solve these issues you can try the following solutions: Time Sync Issues â If both the Vista and the XP system are set to different time zones this error can occur. To resolve the time zone mismatch, you can follow these steps: Click Start and then click Run. Type cmd and click OK. At the prompt type NET TIME /QUERYSNTP. If it pops up an error then type NET TIME /DOMAIN /SET /YES. Also check to make sure that the Time zones are set properly. This should solve problems with the time zones and should take care of the system error 5. If it doesnât, then try the next solution. The account is disabled- If the account you are using to access the system is disabled or if the password to the account is changed then system 5 error is generated. You can also check if both the systems are present on the same domain because if they are not you will get a system 5 error. Try the next solution if this does not solve your issue. Missing Permissions â To resolve the issue with permissions, check if the âNetlogonâ service is available on both the systems. If the service is available, then you can change some registry entries on the Vista system to get rid of the error. The steps to achieve this are: Click Start and then click Run. Type Regedit and click Continue to confirm admin access. Navigate to the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System Look for LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy key on
