on 2012-08-16: #1 Normally, this would be the cause of "locked" SD cards, use the adapter that accompanied the SD card when you bought it, it has a lock switch on the side, insert the sd card, then slide the lock error 5 access denied win32 disk imager switch from LOCK to UNLOCK, then try the pluging your SD card again and see if it works. Hope this helps. simonwarren (7-contact-wozzie) said on 2012-09-10: #2 I have the same issue. I've reset the lock slider (locked and unlocked a couple of times), removed and re-connected my card reader on 2 different USB ports (not on a hub). I have full access to the card and have formatted, read and written to it after each change to confirm that's not an issue. base filtering engine error 5 access denied I've tried a couple of images from http://downloads.raspberrypi.org/ and get the "Access denied error 5" each time. The only thing I've not been able to test is with a different memory card. I'm running Vista32 on an HP G7000 laptop, and the Mem card's a SanDisk Ultra 16GB Class 6. Any comments will be much appreciated. Scott Alan Miller (dty6ux7pzvx-scott-awge2s4kjah) said on 2012-09-16: #3 Ran into this, you are likely on Vista or Windows 7. The issue is that you need to run Win32 Disk Imager "As Administrator" when you starting it. Raw writing to a block device is an admin function so trying to run the program as a limited user will cause this error. Don Gateley (dongateley) said on 2013-06-08: #4 "Run as administrator" (which I am already) doesn't help with the Lock Error 5 on my Win 7. For writing the diskpart utility can be used to clean it and that releases whatever lock the OS has on it but I can find no way to read it without the Error 5. Help! I'd rather stick with WinImage so that I can get some help since this seems to be the most common imager used by people who are rooting, etc. https://answers.launchpad.net/win32-image-writer/+question/205161 Basically I have downloaded nooter0.2.zip and extracted it. Once I run WinImage (as administrator) and go through the process of trying to "Restore Virtual Hard Disk Image on Virtual Drive" and selecting my SD Card from the menu, I get this error: Error in writing disk Disk1, error 5 : Access is denied.Click to expand... http://androidforums.com/threads/please-help-trying-restore-winimage-error-cant-burn-image.502064/ I've tried everything... now all I have is a nook that I can't restore. FYI: This screenshot was taken while charging the Nook on the computer, I still get this error with or without the Nook plugged in. Please help. Anything is appreciated. had to extract the file received. Then I tried to create a floppy disk for my organ from this data. But unfortunatially it did not work yet. Whenever the EXE-program tried to create the disk image it asked for a floppy. Then the program should format the floppy http://www.w7forums.com/threads/windows-error-n-5.14495/ and prepare the image for the organ. At this point in time I get the message "Windows Error n5" I tried this with 2 different PCs, with different operating systems (Win-XP and Win7), and with different disks but without success. When ever http://foro.airis.es/t3538-error-instalacion-nuevo-software I tried to write or read this disk or to reformat it with Win7, I get the message from the system that the disk cannot be used anymore and I hat to scrap it. What I would try. Open the folder in Explorer that holds the executable file. Right-click on the file and select "Run as Administrator". Now, the program runs with more permissions than you were previously giving it. This isn't the exact example I want, but it illustrates a right-click context menu with "Run as administrator" option in it. http://img.comptalks.com/uploads/2011/02/Run-as-administrator-cmd.jpg Paul Paul, Apr 27, 2012 #2 Advertisements Manfred Wirobski Guest "Paul" <> schrieb im Newsbeitrag news:jnea9q$ij2$... > Manfred Wirobski wrote: >> I ordered a software and had to extract the file received.
