I am having an issue in Outlook Express that I have been unable to find any useful information on. This is a recent development. In other words, I have used this feature frequently in the past with no problem. When I am composing a new message in Outlook Express, or editing any message (forwarding a message with text added or replying to a message, for instance), if I click on Format in the menu and choose Fonts, I receive an error message that reads An error has occured in this dialogue Error: 501 Permission denied I am able to change the font type, font size, and font color (to a limited number of colors) and several other font features by using the tool bar in the message pane, as always. However, if I want to customize the font color or use other features that can only be accomplished by using the Format feature, I am now unable to use it. For years, I have used this feature by highlighting text I want to change, clicking on Format in the Menu bar, choosing Font, and making my selections (or, for that matter, making the font selections even before typing new text). Now I get the error message. The only changes I am aware of to my computer are SP2, downloaded montbs, ago and SpySweeper, purchased version, added several days ago. I have AVG 7.0, SpyBot, Ad-Aware, and, as mentioned, SpySweeper. I run them all regularly, or, in the case of AVG and SpySweeper, of course, keep them running. I also use CleanUp regularly. My computer is free of adware, spyware, viruses, trojans, worms, etc. from what these programs tell me. I am having no other issues. I have Windows XP SP2, Outlook Express 6.0, and use IE 6.0. My OE settings are set to use HTML to send mail. My encoding is Western European (Windows). I have spent considerable time researching this issue. Have used Google and checked out several forum threads and websites, including Microsoft. There is even a previous thread on this forum, but I cannot find the end of it -- or if I did find the end, there was no answer
