HP PCs - HP BIOS Application Selected Is Corrupt or Missing This document pertains to HP PCs with the HP Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) beginning in late 2008. During the startup process, the system performs a checksum test of the BIOS. If the checksum is incorrect, the BIOS is assumed to be corrupt and the system will install a hidden copy of the BIOS to correct the problem, and the startup process continues. The following message will be displayed for 15 seconds before the computer automatically reboots. You have the option of pressing Enter to proceed without waiting 15 seconds. The CMOS checksum is invalid. The CMOS will be reset to the default configuration and will be rebooted. Please check your BIOS Setup o

When I press enter bios application error nothing bad happens, My system just starts up normally. I have had a similar problem with my desktop but whenever I press enter the computer restarts and doesn't startup. I was told that a virus had attacked my system. I am very worried. Is the same thing happening here?, How will it affect my system? and What can I do? windows-7 laptop bios share|improve this question edited Aug 12 at 13:05 Hennes 51.1k776121 asked Oct 19 '13 at 10:54 user264958 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote accepted i suppose that your laptop bios is UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface). Most likely that the HP_TOOLS EFI is missing form the system. If you formatted/reformatted or replaced your HDD/SSD it could be that there is no efi-partition (HP_Tools) installed. I think that correct error message is: The HP BIOS application selected is corrupt or missing. Please install the application and try again. BIOS Application Error (501) Enter - Continue To fix this do the following: Enter your BIOS by pressing F10 (I think) while booting up Navigate to System Configuration / Device Configurations Find the option called HP Quicklook or HP Quicklook 2 and set it to Disabled Save the changes and exit This sho
by zelenka, Jan 23, 2012. zelenka Pen Pal - Newbie Messages: 7 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 5 Hello, I bought a refurbished HP 2370p on ebay in the US - being myself located in EU. The condition included a "Fresh installation of Windows Vista Business (32-bit) w/COA and restore partitions on HDD". But the OS does not boot. Pressing the info-button shows the following error message: "The HP BIOS application selected is corrupt or missing. Please install the application and try again. Bios Application Error (501). ENTER - continue. For more information, please visit: www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup." Starting with the "regular" button triggers a "Windows Error Recovery" black screen, which says: Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem: 1. Insert your Windows install disc and restart your computer 2. Choose your language settings, and then click Next 3. Click "Repair your computer" Other options [..] Safe mode Safe mode with networking Safe mode with command prompt Last known good configuration (advanced) Start Windows normally Selecting "Other options" leads to a short Microsoft loading screen, then to a blue screen, then to an HP screen, then to the opportunity to use HP recovery with F11, then to the previous "Windows Error Recovery" screen. I had a look at the bios - without making any change. ROM Revision is 68POU Ver. F.04. The boot option is: \windows\system32\winload.exe Partition: 1 Hard Disk: cdfecea [ /NOEXECUTE = OPTIN ] In agreement with the seller, I tried [twice] the HP Recovery option. It successfully ends after 15 minutes, reboots, but same problem occurs. The seller suspected an hardware failure when I described the behavior, prior to try to recovery. Has someone experienced the same issue ? What could I technically try next ? Thank you in advance. edit: I have no docking station nor original CDs. zelenka, Jan 23, 2012 #1 zelenka Pen Pal - Newbie Messages: 7 Likes Received: 0 Trop
