Plex on PS3 DLNA Protocol Error 501 katz.s Posts: 4Members August 2012 in DLNA I had high dlna protocol error 501 playstation hopes for this software when I found out about it. The server is exactly what I a dlna protocol error 501 has occurred plex was looking for! Unfortunately, I'm running the client from a PS3 and of course I get the 501 error when trying to use the plex ps3 dlna error video portion. Music works OK. My frustration is that there is already a thread about this issue, but the problem never seems to be addressed, at least what I've been able to find. I've already tried deleting the bundle directories and dlna protocol error 2104 ps3 the same error appears. Any help or new advice about getting this error resolved would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I'm at the latest version available. Thanks in advance. 0 «12» Go Comments Trudge Gone off to greener pastures.... HI, If you do a google search for DLNA 501 PS3 you'll see that error 501 seems to be Sony's "catch all" error for DLNA so its not caused by 1 thing, but any number of things that Sony are yet to define specific error codes for. This is also why is keeps coming up and never appears to be fixed, as there is no 1 fix for it and what does fix it for some, doesn't for others. It also happens on any DLNA server, not just the Plex one which means there are plenty of fixes for you to try out there on the big wide internet. I would suggest doing that google search and trying the fixes that have worked for others, which seem to range from; - updating your PS3 firmware - rebooting your PS3 - letting your PS3 just sit for a while before trying to connect - using only a single nic in your PC if you have more than 1

I just bought my PS3 over the weekend, and ever since I https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/45070/plex-on-ps3-dlna-protocol-error-501 hooked it up, I keep getting this error message:Media Server Error: DLNA Protocol Error (501) has occurredFrom what I've gathered by googling the error message, it would appear that this is something related to Windows Media Center, but I haven't even used Media Center with the PS3 yet. Also, when doing an Internet Connection http://www.gamespot.com/forums/playstation-nation-1000002/dlna-error-501-26259309/ test on my PS3, it says "UPnP: Failed" (even though I've set UPnP to "enable"), and my NAT type keeps saying 3 when I believe I want it at 2.Any ideas or suggestions? professorabsMember Since: March 24, 2008Posts: 25professorabsFollowForum Posts: 25Followed by: 0Reviews: 0 Stacks: 0Forum Karma: 0#2 Posted by professorabs (25 posts) - 8 years, 7 months agoI just read your posting...I just hooked up my PS3 and keep getting the same damn error message...did you ever resolve it??Thanks!!! big_boss4lifeMember Since: December 4, 2006Posts: 2633big_boss4lifeFollowForum Posts: 2633Followed by: 0Reviews: 1 Stacks: 0Forum Karma: 0#3 Posted by big_boss4life (2633 posts) - 8 years, 7 months agohooked it up how?ethernet cable? or wireless`? professorabsMember Since: March 24, 2008Posts: 25professorabsFollowForum Posts: 25Followed by: 0Reviews: 0 Stacks: 0Forum Karma: 0#4 Posted by professorabs (25 posts) - 8 years, 7 months agoI'm hooked up via Linksys wireless.....music woks fine (for now)......no vids.....and, keeps popping the message: DLNA protocol error (501) has occurred..

Linksys WRT54GL running DD-WRT. I stream video to my PS3, Samsung Blue ray player and Samsung TV. I've never had an issue with watching anything I've added to my library. I've had to add a switch to my setup because I've finally ran out of hard wire ports for my devices. Since I've added the switch (Cisco SD2008) suddenly I cannot stream anything through DLNA. My PS3 gives an error message of "Media Server Error: A DLNA protocol error (501) has occurred" and when I go into my AllShare program on my Samsung no videos are found. But the weird thing is is that Plex Media Server runs just fine. Plex doesn't play a lot of my videos and it's not the most friendly or fast program to use so I'm really stuck in a hard place here. I'm really hoping someone can give me advice to fix this problem. I would greatly appreciate any help resolving this issue. Comment Filed Under: Gaming Tagged: ps3 A friend of mine purchased a PlayStation 3 and connected it to his wireless Linksys router. Whenever he downloaded updates to games, it would start the download then freeze at about 32 percent. At other times it would throw an error saying DNLA Protocol Error 2101. We could access the PlayStation Store without a problem though. After connecting the PS3 directly to the cable modem, the PS3 worked fine. So we then knew the problem had to be with the Linksys router configuration. After checking out the router settings, we figured out that UPnP was enabled. The UPnP feature is supposed to automatically grant permission to devices to access needed network resources. It doesn't always play well with certain devices though. So we disabled UPnP with these steps: Login to the Linksys router's admin panel. You can usually get there by opening a web browser and going to "http://192.168.1.1" (usually this is the IP address used, but it may be different depending on your configuration) in a web browser. Go to "Connectivity" in the left pane. Click the "Administration" tab. Uncheck "UPnP" to disable it. Select "OK", and you're done. If you have a router from a different brand, check the user guide for information on how to disable this feature.
