"Error 5100 An error occurred in the carriage encoder signal". Let's march down the troubleshooting path and look at probable solutions and how to canon 5100 printer reset Canon error code 5100. The first thing that you should do with a printer error of any type is try to reset the Canon MP printer. Occasionally an error code is a matter of a crossed signal between the https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJQVwwRxPv4 Canon ink jet printer and the computer. Rebooting the Canon pixma printer might fix the problem with no more fuss. 1) Clear debris from carriage head to eliminate canon error 5100 Open the Canon printer and look closely for any debris such as small pieces of paper or dirt lodged inside. If such debris is found, remove it, plug Canon pixma back in and see if error code has cleared. 2) Lubricate the purge cap If the Canon printer has excess http://www.mytechtime.com/2011/10/canon-error-5100-how-to-fix.html dirt or dust you can use a damp lint free paper towel to gently clean the Canon printer. Once device is cleaned plug it back in and see if error 5100 has cleared. If cleaning and clearing the device does not work then you may need to lubricate the purge cap.The purge cap is the sliding mechanism that the printer head parks into when it is not in use. To lubricate it you will need to remove the right panel from the devise. Once the panel is removed rub a little white grease along the sliders while taking care not to get any grease on the small wipers or the black caps. Once this is done, replace the panel, plug devise back in and see if the error 5100 has cleared. 3) Paper Jammed Odds are greatest a rogue piece of paper has nested itself in like a rat in a haystack. The solution is to remove all ink cartridges and hit it with canned air, or any other filtered air blower. 4) Set the ink cartridges properly Less likely, and yet still possible is your ink cartridges need to be re-seated. If you follow the step above, after cleaning you'll be re-seated the cartridges anyway. 5) Clean the Timing film The timing film is a thin piece of plastic which runs across the width of the devise below the drive belt. It has fine vertical lines running along i
- I do have a copy of The Art of Electronics and a welder, so there’s a chance I might post something meaningful http://code.dblock.org/2008/12/03/resetting-a-canon-mp460.html one day. I was about to throw my MP460 Canon printer (80$) out http://www.en.rellenadodecartuchos.com/2014/04/getting-rid-of-5100-error-message-on-canon-printer.html of the window (8th floor, 10$ a flight of stairs). I was trying to setup a wireless print server and finally got that working, when the printer came back with an obscure 5100 error. I tried everything, including shaking it violently. What worked was a reset, and this page error 5100 explains how. Turn off the printer Hold the Resume Button (red circle in the triangle), add a printer (click “Power”) an indicator light green. Hold the Power Button, release the Resume Button. Not releasing the Power Button, double click “Resume” and release Both Buttons. Click “Resume” for Four times Once you click “Power”, to confirm the selected action (reset counter absorber). To disable error 5100 canon the printer “Power” button to click again. On the wireless front, I got a Linksys WPS54G. None of the wizards worked, go figure. I ended up being able to connect to the printer’s HTTP configuration interface, but couldn’t configure it on Vista. It wasn’t too hard to configure manually with some help. Add the appropriate printer from Control Panel, Printers, Add Printer Select Local Printer and select Create New Port, Standard TCP/IP Port Device Type, TCP/IP Device. HostName or IPAddress should be the IP Address of the Print Server Device. I configured it with a static IP. After nothing is detected choose Custom, Settings Select LPR, set Queue Name to L2 for USB printer. Turn on LPR Byte Counting Enabled. Select the printer, install the driver. Easy? Ahem. overall functioning, high quality and decent page yield. This is a very common use among Canon printers, so you must be prepared for it. A 5100 error message on a Canon printer means something is blocking the ink cartridges' natural coming and going. If you have a Continuous Ink System installed on your printer, we suggest you check it's not getting in the way of the printer heads or keeping it from reaching its final destination. Since we don't have a CISS installed in our own computers, all we need to do is check for any piece of paper on both sides of the headprint. Even a small piece can interrupt the movement process, so take a good look at the entire course of the ink cartridges. Now that we've looked and made sure there aren't any foreign objects that may be causing the problem, we must restore our printer. Please follow every step to the letter to guarantee the best outcome possible. If this doesn't work out for you, please leave a comment in the section below this post, and leave valid information so we can give you some feedback. Step 1: Turn the printer on. Logical, right? Step 2: Try pressing Menu. If your printer lets you in before the error message comes up, half our work is done. Once you're in, your printer's system will allow you to restart the entire device back to factory settings. Any configuration or special setting will be lost in the process. In case you can't enter your printer's Menu, continue with the following steps. Step 3: Press the Scan / Copy / Scan keys in that order. This will put your printer in Service Mode. Step 4: Now you only need to wait for a few minutes and the process will be finished. Final step: Your printer should have stopped blinking and sending out the 5100 error message. -- Note: All this information is based on knowledge we've acquired in our workshop, it's not supplied by any printer manufacturer and shouldn't be taken as a rule. This is only a solution of one particular issue.
