error 5100. I quickly investigate to see what was the issue as I needed to to print out some document. At first I tried to do http://community.usa.canon.com/t5/Printer-Multifunction-Support/what-is-error-5100-for-multifunction-printeers-and-how-do-you/td-p/6131 the basic routine such as turning off the power and turn it back on, then pressing the Stop button for 5 seconds to reset it, but to no avail. Then with further trouble shooting, here are the solution I found how you can get rid of the error. 1. Open up the http://www.itjungles.com/fixed-canon-printer-error-5100.html front paper tray and look for any piece of object that could get stuck inside the printer. Things like paper clip, staple, debris and small pieces of paper may have got stuck in there by accident. 2. Ensure that the timing strip is cleaned and free of dirt. The timing strip is a white small transparent plastic that usually stay in front or below the drive belt. Also there is another similar strip that you could clean, it has a black vertical lines running across on this strip. Make sure that there are no ink or dirt sticking to the strip, use a soft piece of tissue to clean it. The purpose of this strip is to control the movement of the printer head and guiding to go back and forth. * iOS Development * OS X * Product Review Amazon.com Widgets Scroll to Top Privacy Policy - Copyright 2009
5100ProblemYou are unable to print and receive the message Error 5100 on the computer or printer display screen.CauseError 5100 is a carriage http://www.fixkb.com/2011/06/canon-error-code-5100.html error that can usually be fixed by using service mode and flushing the printer heads when it has a blockage.SolutionTry the following:Reseat the ink cartridges.Reset the ink absorber. If http://fix-your-printer.blogspot.com/2009/04/error-code-5100-on-canon-inkjet.html this doesn't work then the printer may need repair.Share this:PrintEmailFacebookRedditTwitterGoogle6 Responses to Canon Printer Error 5100 Reply 1plus19 March 22, 2013 at 23:35 I fix the printer using the error 5100 method in this article http://www.itjungles.com/printers/fixed-canon-printer-error-5100. Basically just had to remove the piece of paper got stuck in the printer. Reply Russ December 14, 2014 at 04:24 I also used the same method mentioned in this article, but I had to clean the clear-strip. Fixed it right up.Thanks for the post. Reply LuisJ February 24, 2014 at 14:03 service error 5100 Mine was a grease smear on the clear plastic strip (encoder) behind the print head, the smear caused not to find home. I did cause the smear with my knuckles while cleaning the head cleaning squeegees by the ink dumps / head cleaning station. Reply CrispinR January 14, 2015 at 12:27 After several different suggested fixes were tried including that specified above to reset the "ink absorber" and those suggested by Canon for this error message on their site, I am very happy to say that the issue turned out to be the same as set out by LuisJ who had a smear on the plastic strip. Once the strip had been cleaned the printer returned to normal. Thanks Luis for posting your findings here as it really helped me. Thanks also to Satu and to Carl Norton who gave the solution for the ink absorber. Reply Joe Kelly July 28, 2015 at 10:27 Cleaning the plastic strip cleared my problem. Thanks Reply JimC October 3, 2015 at 2
staple... Solution 2: There is a thin plastic strip running across the width in front of and below the drive belt: there are fine black vertical lines on this strip. If the strip gets a piece of crud on it, you get an error during the start-up sequence. Gently clean this strip with a damp lint-free tissue. Solution 3: The purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) may be not lubricated well enough. Lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps). This repair probably require to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism. Libellés : Error code 4 comments: Eduardo said... Hi, my stripe was dirty with grease from the rail below - must be happened while fixing the paper jam. With the clean stripe my mx700 runs fine again! Thanks a lot!!! Turns out it wasn't a dirty strip, but a long piece of curly yellow ribbon that had somehow gotten inside and wrapped itself around that area. Life with a 2-year-old.
