in 0 Posts runtime error 6 overflow Hi, I need to calculate some variables: Dim intSubmap1 As Integer Dim intSubmap2 As Integer intDocID = 123 intSubmap1 = Int(intDocID / (256 ms access runtime error 6 overflow * 256)) After running the last line i get a runtime error 6verflow. I ran it also in VB6,no problems. What's wrong in this ? Thanks ! bbouwer View Public Profile Find More Posts by bbouwer 01-02-2010, 09:26 AM #2 pbaldy Wino Moderator Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: Nevada, USA Posts: 28,829 Thanks: runtime error 6 overflow excel 6 Thanked 3,212 Times in 3,158 Posts Re: runtime error 6 overflow Just for chuckles, try making them both Long instead of Integer. Also, you declare a variable you don't use, and use a variable you haven't declared (though I doubt either contributes to your error). __________________ Paul Microsoft Access MVP To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. I would suggest using decimal numbers and converting the resultant to an integer as a last step. __________________ Now using Linux (Ubuntu). Doing database development with Fire

After providing some cosmetic-type updates to its underlying form this message has arrived and I can't understand why. If it's Integer, it can't accept a value larger than 32,767. What is the value of rs.Fields(0) when you hit that error? –HansUp Jan 20 '15 at 19:14 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 3 down vote accepted Try inserting the following line at the start of the program: Dim minimo as Long share|improve this answer answered Jan 20 '15 at 19:23 miroxlav 5,58121743 bravo. Thank you –Marchese Il Chihuahua Jan 20 '15 at 19:39 3 @MarcheseIlChihuahua – My practice is to insert Option Explicit as the first line of every program module (file). This forces me to declare every variable using Dim statement and this way I can avoid many errors similar to this one. –miroxlav Jan 20 '15 at 21:06 Miroxlav, just as an FYI i had declared that variable as Integer prior to taking your advice. After a bit of research it seemed to me that this problem resulted from the fact that the underlying field which was being extracted was an automatic numerical field which was exceeding a large number. I am still a bit confused as to why this is a problem . –Marchese Il Chihuahua Jan 21 '15 at 6:59 1 @MarcheseIlChihuahua - honestly, I'm not sur

However when I move to create a new record I get an error message that says "Error code 6 - Overflow" Can anyone suggest a solution? Many thanks Tony Tony Williams, Oct 6, 2009 #1 Advertisements Tony Williams Guest Soory the problem seems to be with the calculation of totadvances2 as that line is highlighted when i click on the debug button.
