For some reason it won't work at my sister's house. In an attempt to fix this (and after a blue screen of death saying that the board isn't fully ACPI compliant), I thought I'd update the BIOS. I have done this before on my old Asrock board with no problems. So I create a bootable floppy disk and copy over the ASRFLASH.exe and the BIOS file K7V4APR1.60 I then turn off the PC and start it up with the floppy disk in the drive. After it says "Please wait for BIOS loading ROM", it comes up with the error: Error 6 - BIOS file not of proper size. The size of the BIOS file is 256kb. The Asrock website does not have any other BIOS files for this board. So I don't understand what's going wrong. I will try some more flopy disks but this isn't looking good! Please help! I'm having a drama flashing the amibios on my board. I downloaded the latest bios(1.4) and amiflash.exe from the taiwanese soltek page . the instructions said to copy those files onto a boot floppy , then boot into dos. no problem so far. type in amiflash 75frv14 and after a moment i get the error message- ERROR 6 Bios file not of proper size any help or suggestions will be much appreciated. cheers Reply With Quote 04-15-2003,06:56 AM #2 Wumba View Profile View Forum Posts Registered User Joined Apr 2003 Location australia Posts 6 and the answer is - when you make the boot floppy , dont put the amiflash.exe and the rom file on the same floppy , put them in a root directory like C: or D:. boot from the floppy then run the flash program from hard disk - troublefree bios update was the result (having tried and failed 6 times with the all-the-files-on-the-floppy method). this was my first ever attempt at a bios flash and when done the right way it was painless - anyone who's considered trying it but bailed because of "the risk" should give it a go.
