My code error 6 is perfect, I'm not getting any error but after I run it, I will see NOT RESPONDING top of Excel VBA and Excel doesn't respond anymore. I am writing vba code to find the match numbers between two sheets: Sheet1 holding 5000 numbers and Sheet2 holding 4500 numbers. When i run it , my code run it for 10 secs then excel freezing on me and not responding msg appear top of the screen. NOW WHEN I COMPARE time error 6 ONLY 100 NUMBERS BETWEEN TWO SHEETS, ITS WORK PERFECT AND NOT RESPONDING MSG DOESN'T APPEAR, it only occurs when I compare 10000 numbers together or larger amount of numbers. Once again this code is working perfectly, when i am comparing only 100 numbers but when i try to do larger numbers between two sheets, NOT RESPONDING APPEAR AND EXCEL FREEZING ON ME.... This interrupts the program and you should be able to click the stop button. This could be useful while troubleshooting and fixing the actual

Is it possible to abort a long term loop (if so, how) / can I build a button or something like that to interrupt this loop manually? Building a button and overlaying it with a macro is not a problem, only the code itself. excel vba loops interrupt share|improve this question edited Jun 7 '13 at 1:01 Danack 14.9k84577 asked Jul 19 '10 at 9:28 poeschlorn 3,939144162 Possible Duplicate: stackoverflow.com/questions/3018286/… –marg Jul 19 '10 at 11:18 Does it have to loop through each cell manually? Perhaps you could rework the process to make it faster, i.e. using Excel's FillDown function. When I hear "loop over several thousands of cells", I see an opportunity to optimize. –PowerUser Jul 19 '10 at 12:56 @PowerUser: Sry, this isn#t possible in this context, because I have to check the cells manually instead ;-) –poeschlorn Jul 19 '10 at 13:23 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 11 down vote accepted When Excel is busy executing your macro, it won't respond to a button. You have three options here: Use Ctrl+Break keys (as apposed to a button) Make your macro much faster (maybe setting Application.ScreenUpdating to False will help) Make your macro much slower by inserting a DoEvents in the inner loop. This way, Excel will resond to buttons in the meantime. The macro this button would trigger would just set a global variable to True (obviously, your inner loop should check this variable on each iteration, and exit if it's True). share|improve this answer answered Jul 19 '10 at 9:41 GSerg 47.9k775128 add a comment| up vote 3 down vote Application.EnableCancelKey could be the thing, you are looking for.
