Ideally the MinVal should be 40316 from the data which is not big number as well. I have tried compacting and reparing the database. still the problem persist. However, when i run the above DMin from an access query it is working fine. it is only in VBA it is not picking up. Any help will be appriciated. access-vba ms-access-2003 share|improve this question asked Oct 29 '14 at 13:26 staq 51138 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote You need to change Dim MinVal As Integer to Dim MinVal As Long. The maximum value of Integer (16-bits)is 32,767, whereas the max for Long (32-bits) is over 2 billion. Access stores Autonumbers as 32-bit Longs internally, so the queries have always worked. When you finished work on the last request that had ARRID <=32767, your VBA had to put a 32-bit value into a 16-bit box. Overflow is your warning that the conversion would be incorrect. Make your box bigger! share|impr

Thank you Inet for the replacement function. Thank you Galax for detailing the source of the problem. Interesting, Microsoft documented in the MSDN library that the MOD operator can handle "any numeric expression". http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/l

Also the values at the time of overflow using watch was : Count = 32942, i=0,j=182....which basically means 181 iterations in the inner loop has been through and it gets stuck at 182nd iteration....I am not able to understand wat is overflowing...can someone plz help with the reason and the remedy? Only the final loop is used. Sub xyz() Dim i As Long Dim j As Long Dim Count As Double For i = 0 To 100 For j = 0 To 10000 Count = (i * i) + (j * j) + Application.WorksheetFunction.Power((i * i) + (j * j), 0.5) Next j Next i MsgBox Count End Sub Formatting tags added by mark007 MVP (Excel 2008-2010) "Provide sample data and layout if you want a quicker solution." - MD To help indent your macros try Smart Indent Please remember to mark threads 'Solved' Reply With Quote 02-28-2011,06:35 AM #3 Abhijeet View Profile View Forum Posts View Blog Entries View Articles VBAX Regular Joined Feb 2011 Posts 9 Location Ya i know that..i have to implement something similar elsewhere...so was testing with this snippet...Count may be overwritten...but why is there an overflow
