The ethernet cable goes from modem into a router error 651 modem or other connecting device and then to three different Windows 7 PCs.I hook up the Comcast cable modem (no ethernet cable). All the lights but 'Link' come on. I swap the ethernet cable from the Verizon modem to the Comcast modem. Now the 'Link' light comes on orange, blinking furiously, and all three PCs get the famous "Connection has failed with error 651" message.I remove the router and run the ethernet cable directly from the Comcast modem to a PC. The 'Link' light turns to green and the PC connects fine.I replace the first router with another router and get the same "error 651" message again.I try a new ethernet cable from modem to router and still get the "error 651" message. The first router is a two year old Netgear and the second router is a five year old Buffalo. The Netgear works fine with Verizon DSL. The Buffalo worked fine with my Comcast cable modem at my old address a couple of days ago. (I did connect to Verizon DSL through the Netgear for the past couple of days and I am doing so now).I went back to the Verizon DSL modem and all three PCs connect fine.I have rebooted PCs, powered modems off and on. I was able to get intermittent connecti

But please be aware though, all the solutions were gathered from internet, such as article, forum etc., and I can’t guarantee that they will work for you. Else, I am sorry that I couldn’t help you, perhaps you can ask for help from your ISP. I have updated several more possible solutions based on some readers’ replies. You try to initiate the broadband dialer in Windows 7 and only found that it doesn’t work and returned with an error 651: Your modem (or other connecting device) has reported an error. modem error 651 And you had tried to restart your PC, your router, your modem etc. and the problem doesn’t go away. And eventually you want to bang your head to the wall because you can’t solve the problem, nor you can find solution online because you are not able to get online! Same thing happened to me last few days which caused the update of the blog delayed. During some normal surfing, I found out that the connection was hang, thus I just disconnect the internet connection and try to reconnect. But hey, I can’t connect back anymore, with the error 651 while everything (hardware, Windows etc.) were ok. So for a few days, I can’t update my blog and I was trying to find solution for it in the office (don’t tell the boss, won’t ya?). What I have found? It is not hard to find the users that have the same problem as mine on the internet (you might want to praise internet a little bit?), but surprisingly this error seems bugged some Windows 7 (Beta or even RTM) users and it seems there is no official solution for it. There is a lot of workarounds, suggested, of course, by ot

I have taken it to a friend's house and successfully connect to his wireless internet without any problems. However, I do not have Wifi and have been attempting to connect my laptop to the internet via my ethernet cable connected to my modem. A broadband connection, Local Network 6 comes up, but I am unable to connect to it, and I am given an Error 651 message. I have tried resetting the modem, unplugging and plugging it back in, but it never works. I also called comcast and talked to someone who tried something over on his end and said it should work in a few minutes. We ended the call and waited a while before trying again. It still did not work. If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated! arc3305, Aug 19, 2014 #1 etaf Wayne Moderator Joined: Oct 2, 2003 Messages: 60,841 is this a modem or a router - ??? If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here. Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here. If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply
