(end of disclaimer) The fix, which worked for me yesterday, is simple: Go to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\ -If the Windows key doesn't exist, create a new key; Then check for the following entry (or create it if it is not there) Name: Device Type: Reg_SZ (String Value) Value: winspool,Ne00 <-- if there is anything else there, change it to this value. If I am on Computer A w/ Citrix Receiver 3.2 and have a full XA6 desktop launched and log onto Computer B with Citrix Receiver 3.2 and select reconnect error 709 default to my session, my default printer isnt set. If i right click on the printer and select "set as default" i get the error in the above topic. These printers are auto created and the default printer is different on Computer A vs Computer B. So on Computer A I would have a printer called "lexmark123 on session X" then when i reconnect on Computer B I would I have a printer called "HP on Session X" but no printers will be set as default. I have looked at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2546625 and we are not using a CNAME and this used to work, but I think a patch might of been installed which broke it. I have googled and checked the forums and cannot find a fix and looking for any assistance. In such case, you can't set your default printer, but still, you would be able to print documents from notepad or WordPad but you won't be able to print any document from MS Word, Excel or any other software program which select default printer for printing. Whenever you install printer driver it makes changes to your computer like copying tons of files to your hard drive, creating new windows service, adding different keys to the registry files and many other changes. It does set these files in such a way so that it can get permission to perform printing task. Sometimes a malware or a conflicting program can change these permissions and your printer stops working as usual. Error 0x00000709 occurs when printing permission gets revoked from the windows registry by any malware or conflicting program.
