Then someone from Apple told me either to download from another computer or to set up another account and copy all my files (iTunes and everything else) to that new account. The first seemed less drastic, so I tried it. I was able to download the files and burn them to a CD, but BE CAREFUL. I copied the files back to my original computer, but now when I log into iTunes it tries to

Report Content as Inappropriate ♦ ♦ iTunes download fails with error 8008 I’m passing this along because I thought that perhaps it might be useful to someone else. I had been trying to download an HD episode of a TV show, but each time I tried, the download would fail at exactly the same spot, 502.1MB of 1.4GB, with error 8008 (and occasionally error 50). When you buy an HD episode of a TV show from iTunes on a Mac, you get two files; an HD version and an SD version. The SD version downloaded fine, and all my other content downloaded fine. I had problems with only the HD version of this one episode of one TV show and nothing else. It seemed to me that either the file was corrupt on Apple’s server, or my partially downloaded copy was corrupt. Otherwise, why would the download fail at exactly the same spot? To resolve the problem, I tried everything I could think of short of sacrificing a virgin. I stopped iTunes, deleted the iTunes download folder, used Disk Utility to check out my hard drive, rebooted the Mac, and repeated all the above several times without any success. The problem persisted. Finally, I contacted Apple support, and got the usual “check your firewall and security settings” response. I pointed out to the specialist that I was only having problems with one and only one download, and that if my firewall waited until 500MB had downloaded before deciding to complain then it wouldn’t be much of a firewall. As I had deleted the local copy of the file several times, I assumed that Apple’s copy was corrupt. I know that Apple will have multiple copies of files scattered around the world for reliability and performance reasons, so I thought that if I could get my iTunes to request the download from a different server then I might be successful. So, I switched my DNS from OpenDNS to Google DNS, tried the download again, and it worked without a hitch. This occurred to me because I had a major problem getting iTunes Match to upload my files until I switched from my ISP’s DNS to OpenDNS. After I pointed out the uselessness of the “check firewa
