I obtain a lot of warnings (as in the first row in the following output) and one error: GPL Ghostscript 9.07: **** Warning: Outline has invalid link that was discarded. GPL Ghostscript 9.07: ERROR: A pdfmark destination page 4 points beyond the last page 3. The resulting PDF (consisting of the extracted pages) is fine, however. I am wondering why I obtain this error and the warnings although I chose the option -q for quiet. I did some search on that and found, for example, this, but the PDF file is already generated with hypertexnames=false and so the suggested solution there does not work in my case (Ubuntu 13.04). Just to add: The .pdf file is generated via pdflatex from \documentclass{scrartcl} \usepackage[T1]{fontenc} \usepackage[american]{babel} \usepackage{tikz} \usepackage[hypertexnames=false]{hyperref} \begin{document} \tikz[remember picture, overlay]\node at (current page.south)[rectangle, fill, color=gray]{}; \clearpage \section{foo} \clearpage \tableofcontents \clearpage \section{bar} foo bar \end{document} If you comment out parts after \begin{document}, gs suddenly has neither warnings nor errors, so it has to do with the way the PDF file is generated. pdftex pdf ghostscript share|improve this question edited Apr 27 '13 at 16:32 Svend Tveskæg 19.3k942114 asked Apr 27 '13 at 16:00 Marius Hofert 1,7481538 Please use qpdf or pdftk or pdfjam for page extraction and not GhostScript

Description beldiceanu 2012-07-22 20:19:55 PDT Dear all, Here are some information for reproducing/understanding the bug about: (1) the system I use, (2) the latex distribution I use, (3) the error message I get when converting dvi to pdf with Ghostscript 9.05 (4) the list of packages that I use (5) the main latex file is catalog.tex (6) an attached zipped file containing all the files to reproduce the bug: . the main file is catalog.tex . catalog.tex uses preface.tex as well as the tex files that are in the ctrs directory. You may look to the catalog.log file to see the messages that were produced by the Latex compilation. If you want to compile yourself type the following commands: (1) cd catalog % to go in the catalog directory (2) make pdf % a command in the makefile that calls Latex and dvipdf Best regards, Nicolas Beldiceanu Email: Nicolas.Beldiceanu@gmail.com p.s.: I could get the catalog converted to use pdflatex, but somehow I would much prefer to remain using dvipdf which produces smalle
