2008. Thread Status: Not open for further replies. Advertisement vectorges Thread Starter Joined: Aug aol desktop 31, 2008 Messages: 7 My old computer refused to connect to the internet. We have a cable modem, service through Time Warner with teh AOL slow speed option. The cable modem conected to a router with two computers attached to teh router. My wife's computer accesses the internet when connected directly to the cable modem. Ny laptop will not connect to the internet. I removed the CAT5 cable from the back of her computer, connected it to teh laptop, opened AOL and I get the AOL error message:"[Broadband] The computer could not get an internet connection.(Error AC-3100 0x84008503)" I opened the AOL Broadband Connection on my wife's computer and made sure hte laptop is set up exactly the same. When I go to COntrol Panel and use the Repair option it says it cannot refresh the TCP/IP address. Does anyone have any ideas, or can you give me the phoen number of Time Warner tech support? They hide it very well. It's not clear from the above if you are doing so. The one computer that is able to connect always comes right back. During one of my discussions with TW's "help" phone I did power off the modem and the offending computer. Still didn't help. vectorges, Aug 31, 2008 #3 TerryNet Terry Moderator Joined: Mar 23, 2005 Messages: 71,907 If both computers are running Windows please show for each (connected to the modem after a proper power cycle) ...
