Published on Oct 22, 2014Problem:When calling a registry file (.reg) from within a batch file (.bat), the following error message is displayed: "Cannot import filename.reg: Error openingthe file. There may be a disk or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKoa1mALraI file system error."Solution: 1. Eliminate spaces from the path of the registry file (example: instead of "C:\folder name\file name.reg" use "C:\folder_name\file_name.reg")2. Either use an absolute path for the registry file inside the batch file, or write %~dp0 in front of the registry file inside the batch file to use the current directory as path. to deploy using KL Admin Kit. All client computers are running Windows XP. Some with SP2 and some SP3.I followed the directions in the following article to create an installation package: http://support.kasperskyamericas.com/knowl...se-article/3747The registry doesn't change when I deploy it from KL Admin Kit. I removed the /s from the .bat file to see what was happening, and I get a registry editor error after I click OK when prompted if I sure about modifying the registry. The error says: "Cannot import \\KLADMIN\KLSHARE\Regupdate\OFDmod.reg: Error opening the file. There may be a disk or file system error."What baffles me is from the client's computer I can run the installation package saved on the server, and it does modify the registry, but for some reason deploying it gives me an error. This is what is in the batch file:@echo offregedit \\KLADMIN\KLSHARE\Regupdate\OFDmod.regechoThis is what is in the OFDmod.reg file:Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\PowerPoint\Options]"DefaultFormat"=dword:0[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Excel\Options]"DefaultFormat"=dword:38[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Options]"DefaultFormat"=sz:Doc[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_DISABLE_TELNET_PROTOCOL]"iexplore.exe"=dword:0[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel]"AdvancedTab"=dword:1"SecurityTab"=dword:1Any help is deeply appreciated. Helmut 17.06.2010 17:05 I wrote "self defense" and not "Proactiv defense". Try this. Jason S 17.06.2010 18:41 Sorry for the confusion. Just tried disabling both options in Self-defense, and I am still receiving the same error. Jason S 17.06.2010 20:13 With a little more testing I found part of the problem. The problem using the method in the Kaspersky article (mentioned in first post) is when the .bat file is executed during deployment the client computer does not find the file or cannot open the file in the network path, but if I were to copy the regedit command in the batch file to command pro
