Network connection may have been lost. Krishna, Can you eventually get into the VBE? I suspect that the error is popping up because you may have created a reference in your VBE to a library that's no longer available for some reason - maybe it was on a network share - thus the 'network connection' part of the message. If you can open the VBE and look at your references (Tools>References...) and see if any of the available references are shown as MISSING - this might be the problem. If anything shows as missing make sure it's unchecked and click the OK button to close the reference window, close the VBE and try going back in to see if you get the error any more. Hope that helps. I have an excel file w/ macros created in excel 2000. It does not have any reference to other files and was working very well. Yesterday I tried to open it on a new XP system w/ excel 2003. Excel 2003 reported http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/excel-reports-error-accessing-file-when-open-an-excel-book-w-ma.1907736/ error "Error accessing file. Network connection may have been lost." And then Excel 2003 told me it was able to open the file with repairs: "Lost Visual Basic project. Lost ActiveX controls". Although all the sheet data were remained, the repairs http://www.fmsinc.com/microsoftaccess/performance/decompile.asp had deleted all my macros. I exited without saving the file - I can see that the last modified time of the file was not changed. When I tried to open this file in Excel 2000 back on my old system, error accessing I was able to open the file, execute the macros. However, when I got into Visual Basic Editor, I am no longer to access my macro codes. Dbl clicking on any module gave me error "Error accessing file. Network connection may have been lost." I tried to export code and got the same error. Also I could not save/save as the file, message was "Document not saved." Does anyone know how to fix the problem or at least, recover/export the macro code so error accessing file that I can re-build the book. Any help is appriciated.
