I suspect that the error is popping up because you may have created a reference in your VBE to a library that's no longer available for some reason - maybe it was on a network share - thus the 'network connection' part of the message. If you can open the VBE and look at your references (Tools>References...) and see if any of the available references are shown as MISSING - this might be the problem. If anything shows as missing make sure it's unchecked and click the OK button to close the reference window, close the VBE and try going back in to see if you get the error any more. Hope that helps. I have an excel file w/ macros created in excel 2000. It does not have any reference to other files and was working very well. Yesterday I tried to open it on a new XP system w/ excel 2003. Excel http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/excel-reports-error-accessing-file-when-open-an-excel-book-w-ma.1907736/ 2003 reported error "Error accessing file. Network connection may have been lost." And then Excel 2003 told me it was able to open the file with repairs: "Lost Visual Basic project. Lost ActiveX controls". Although all the sheet data were remained, https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/21861989/Error-accessing-file-Network-connection-may-have-been-lost.html the repairs had deleted all my macros. I exited without saving the file - I can see that the last modified time of the file was not changed. When I tried to open this file in Excel 2000 back on error accessing my old system, I was able to open the file, execute the macros. However, when I got into Visual Basic Editor, I am no longer to access my macro codes. Dbl clicking on any module gave me error "Error accessing file. Network connection may have been lost." I tried to export code and got the same error. Also I could not save/save as the file, message was "Document not saved." Does anyone know how to fix the problem or at least, error accessing file recover/export the macro code so that I can re-build the book. Any help is appriciated. Posted on 2006-05-24 MS Access 1 Verified Solution 8 Comments 669 Views Last Modified: 2007-12-19 Hi experts, I have been working on a database that has been located on a drive through a network for the past year with no problems. All of a sudden I have started getting the following error when I am in my forms: Error accessing file. Network connection may have been lost. I tried the obvious thing and that was to close down the system, and copy the db file to my local hard drive but I am still getting the error message. I have also rebooted the machine. I have tried this db file on three computers and still get the error message. Can anybody help? Thank you. Check out the links given my Flavo Another thing to try is to copy one form/module etc at a time to another database. Though that may not solve it, it may help you find your corruptness. Hope u got a backup. Remember (my current saying of the day), Access is more flaky than Cadburys!!!
