I don't know what IIS version I have and don't know how to tell, but I have XP SP2 and ASP version 2.0.5027. When I install PHP using the downloaded msi, it says the following "Error trying to access httpd.conf file. You will need to manually configure the web server." If I put a file at one of the web site paths having the extension .php, it will attempt to serve the file, but the browser displays an error message. The error I was getting said "PHP has encountered an Access Violation". Now it's changed and says "No input file specified." Also, should I install PHP with API or CGI. Thanks Reply dmcdivitt 14 Posts Re: php install problems Aug 06, 2007 09:42 AM|dmcdivitt|LINK This was resolved by reading install.txt and doing a manual install. There is no install.txt unless the zip file is downloaded, first, so download the zip file, unzip to C:\PHP pursuant to the instructions, and read install.txt in that folder. Reply hdctest 3 Posts Re: php install problems Apr 17, 2009 09:40 AM|hdctest|LINK Thanks for the tip. I did use the installer though eventually. I read the install.txt from the .zip folder and it says, "Warning It is not recommended to install all extensions by default, since many other them require dependencies from outside PHP in order to function properly." I was installing everything and this was causing my problems. I installed everything except the in extensions which you have to pick and choose which ones don't sound UNIX-y. I installed curl, mssql, mysql, multi-byte string, openssl, and a few others and it worked. If you pick a apache-needing extension you can always uninstall and re-run the installer. http://www.visualwin.com/PHP/ also helped me out for IIS settings. ‹ Previous Thread|Next Thread › This
Technology > When you got the error message "Error trying to access httpd.conf file" after installing PHP After installing PHP to Windows Server, creating a *.php file and input "" and open the link "http://localhost/*.php", if https://forums.iis.net/t/1142229.aspx?php+install+problems you get a error message "Error trying to access httpd.conf file. You will need to manually configure the web server.", if is because you probably choose all the extensions when https://sites.google.com/site/danmiaoaustralia/WebTechnology/httpdconf-file-error you install PHP, actually each of the extension has a bunch of dependencies, when you choose it and install it, the installation process will check if the dependencies are satisfied, if there is one of the required dependencies is not matched, then you will get the above problem. The way to resolve it is easy, just reinstall PHP and reselect all the extensions which you are not sure if they have been installed. The problem will be resolved.
