Your REG file is far from correct. You're trying to import directly into the root of the hives in question. You can't do this. And the format is completely wrong. An example of a REG file follows: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] "ehTray"="C:\\WINDOWS\\ehome\\ehtray.exe" -- Doug Knox, MS-MVP Windows Media Center\Windows Powered Smart Display\Security Win 95/98/Me/XP Tweaks and Fixes http://www.dougknox.com ---

I'm close, but... error accessing not close enough. Back in my other thread, "crash caused by program booting from image file?" (which I'm still working on), Wonko has given me dependancy walker to use in finding about what files this jaws program which I want to use is dependant on. Thankyou Wonko! Ok, so I find out the files, copy them to the various places, and... now I'm having a problem with error accessing the the registry, or so I think. I have a registry file which is about 1mb in size, and when I try adding it in live XP PE, I get the error of unable to access the registry as it tries to import the registry entries. I'm not sure if I should delete anything from the file, or keep things as is. Alternatively, What I have done hoping it would work, but didn't is: 1. Mount the wim file of LiveXP using windows 7. 2. loaded the software hive in regedit and tried to import the file However, it still gives me the error of unable to access the registry. I'm really close in that, before I got to know about DW, and i'd try running jaws from LiveXP, I'd get an error like: the application configuration is incorrect, please reinstall the application. However, when I now enter on the file, no errors appear, nothing, so i'm guessing its just the registry I have to deal with now? any help would really be appreciated. So, he created me a new profile. However, now I've lost my PuTTY and WinSCP configurations because they are stored in the registry. I figured out how to load a hive from my old profile and exported the WinSCP and PuTTY branches. However, I can't merge them to the registry; I get an "Error accessing the registry" message. I have administrator privileges and can access the registry via regedit. Why can't I merge the exports that came from the same machine? Thanks! EDIT Here's a snippet of the putty.reg file that I exported from the registry after converting it to ASCII: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_USERS\SimonTatham\Software\SimonTatham] [HKEY_USERS\SimonTatham\Software\SimonTatham\PuTTY] [HKEY_USERS\SimonTatham\Software\SimonTatham\PuTTY\Jumplist] "Recent sessions"=hex(7):63,00,73,00,70,00,32,00,74,00,68,00,31,00,6e,00,6f,00,\ 20,00,28,00,70,00,72,00,6f,00,64,00,29,00,00,00,74,00,68,00,32,00,2e,00,6e,\ 00,6f,00,2e,00,63,00,67,00,2e,00,6e,00,6d,00,73,00,2e,00,6d,00,6c,00,62,00,\ 2e,00,69,00,6e,00,65,00,74,00,20,00,28,00,70,00,72,00,6f,00,64,00,29,00,00,\ 00,74,00,68,00,32,00,2e,00,6e,00,6f,00,2e,00,63,00,67,00,2e,00,6c,00,61,00,\ 62,00,2e,00,6e,00,6d,00,73,00,2e,00,6d,00,6c,00,62,00,2e,00,69,00,6e,00,65,\ 00,74,00,20,00,28,00,6c,00,61,00,62,00,29,00,00,00,73,00,63,00,6d,00,32,00,\ 2e,00,6e,00,6f,00,2e,00,63,00,67,00,2e,00,6e,00,6d,00,73,00,2e,00,6d,00,6c,\ 00,62,00,2e,00,69,00,6e,00,65
