Quick Hints, and Favourite Websites also included Menu Email Router Service Will Not Start May 6, 2014 Today I had the pleasure of cracking down on the Dynamics CRM 2011 Email Router to find out why it didn't want to play anymore.First thing I checked, was that the CRM Server and the CRM Email Router were at the same Roll Up Version. Control Panel - Programs & Features Next, I took a quick look at the service and noticed that it wasn't running. Trying to start it, resulted in an immediate Stop and an alert advising that 'some services just do this'. Unfortunately, https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/954522 this service shouldn't do that.Checking the event logs, I gathered this piece of info:Error accessing SystemState.xml. Restore file with last backup.Trying a backup file made no difference. Microsoft have a useful KB which advises deleting the SystemState.XML file and restarting the email router. This didn't work either. An additional error in the event log was;The E-mail Router service cannot continue and will now shut down. System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException: System information was not specified in http://thetindog.com/technotes/2014/5/6/email-router-service-will-not-start the E-mail Router service configuration file. The E-mail Router service cannot continue and will now shut down. This makes sense if it cant access the System State file.Next I tried changing the actual CRM Email Router service to run as the user, that I have setup to connect to the mailboxes, instead of running as Local User. I restarted the service and this, interestingly, looked like it had correctly started, but on checking the event log, I was greeted with a handful of errors relating to the service. The E-mail Router service could not run the service main background thread. The E-mail Router service cannot continue and will now shut down. System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException: System information was not specified in the E-mail Router service configuration file. The E-mail Router service cannot continue and will now shut down. ---> System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft CRM Email\Service\Microsoft.Crm.Tools.EmailAgent.xml' is denied.I did try just giving this user access to that particular folder, but this made no difference. At this point, I relented and Uninstalled the email router, downloaded the Email Router again and then also the latest Rollup. You can download the email router from here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=27818You can also download the latest rollup (as of the posting) Roll Up 16 from here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=41655After installation, I configured the Email Rou
file February 6, 2014 Mitch Milam 1 Comment Occasionally, and for reasons that are unclear, the CRM Email Router file Microsoft.Crm.Tools.EmailAgent.SystemState.xml gets corrupted which causes http://www.infinite-x.net/2014/02/06/the-email-router-and-microsoft-crm-tools-emailagent-systemstate-xml-file/ the Email Router service to stop (and your email along with it). If you find your Email Router is not running and a restart does not work-it immediately starts and http://daniyar-tech.blogspot.com/2014/12/mscrm-email-router-issue.html stops, check the Windows Application event log to see if you see any errors in the MSCRMEmail category. They actual error can vary, but it contains a message stating some error accessing type of problem with the Microsoft.Crm.Tools.EmailAgent.SystemState.xml file. Here is a sample Microsoft KB article outlining one such error: Error event when you try to start the Microsoft Dynamics CRM E-mail Router Service in Microsoft Dynamics CRM: "The E-mail Router service could not run the service main background thread" Regardless of the error, the solution is to delete the Microsoft.Crm.Tools.EmailAgent.SystemState.xml error accessing systemstate.xml file then restart the Email Router service.
