Hi guys, I need help, i've tried everything but can not find where the problem is. In a dll i use the function 'GetDllTemplate()' which returns a document template with the resources for a menu, dialog etc. As follows: Code: CMijnDLLApp theApp; CMyMultiDocTemplate* GetDLLTemplate() { AFX_MANAGE_STATE(AfxGetStaticModuleState()); CMyMultiDocTemplate* p = NULL; p = new CMyMultiDocTemplate( theApp.m_hInstance, IDR_MENU1, RUNTIME_CLASS(CTestDoc), RUNTIME_CLASS(CMDIChildWnd), RUNTIME_CLASS(CTestView)); return p; } CMyMultiDocTemplate is derived from CMultiDocTemplate. In my application I load the dll and add the document template to the application with the function 'AddDocTemplate()'. I also use LoadTemplate() to set the resources from the dll. However, when I try to create a new frame using the template from the dll it gives the error mentioned in the subject box. This IDD does exist in the dll resources and its dialog style is set to child. The debugger shows the following: Code: #ifdef _DEBUG // dialog template must exist and be invisible with WS_CHILD set if (!_AfxCheckDi

Below are the lines at dlgcore.cpp where I am getting the debug assertion at. if (!_AfxCheckDialogTemplate(lpszTemplateName, FALSE)) { ASSERT(FALSE); // invalid dialog template name I am using a seperate dll for this project (to load it from the main project of error cannot find the solution.) and "use mfc in a static lubrary" option. Please help me. Thanks. visual-c++ mfc visual-c++-2008 share|improve this question edited Jun 21 '12 at 11:01 asked Jun 21 '12 at 10:55 gishara 37211233 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote accepted Usually that error happens when MFC can't find your dialog in the resources. Your project sounds a little weird because it sounds as if you are creating MFC libraries and linking them and the app statically? Before your call to controlpoints->Create(), call AfxSetResourceHandle() with the HINSTANCE of the DLL that contains the dialog resource. You may want to reset it back to the original state after the call if you start getting weird resource related fails. share|improve this answer answered Jun 21 '12 at 17:44 Joe Willcoxson 2,517614 Thanks Joe. I fixed the problem according to what you have mentioned. –gishara Jun 22 '12 at 7:59 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service. Chen - MSFTNovember 29, 20132 0 0 0 One of the purposes of my dialog manager series was to help people diagnose problems with their dialog boxes. But since I embedded the tips inside the series body, it's hard for people to find them, and I still end up answering the same questions over and over. So here it is in a separate article that hopefully people can find. Why your call to DialogBox or CreateDialog is failing. This also goes for CDialog::
