Must use new Afudos.exe which is included in zip file to flash BIOS. Using ASUSLiveUpdate to flash BIOS,you need to upgrade ASUSLiveupdate to v 5.22.02 or later before flash BIOS. Please do not use Ezflash for updating this BIOS unless the pre-loaded BIOS is of version 1014 or 1015. Support new CPUs. Please refer to our website at: http://www.asus.com Re-arrange memory resource when a total of 4GB memory is installed. Fix boot order sequence will be changed with certain conditions. Add beeping alert when powering up without memory. If you use a program other than the one they tell you to use, don't be surprised when it doesn't work. You need to use afudos. Probability factor of one to one...we

I need some info on *can't find the bios' hook* message, which appears when I try to run AFLASH.What does it mean please? I am trying to error cannot find flash the bios on a Hew/Pac system that has an Asus MEW-AM rev2.01 mb (HAWK??) with Pheonix bios. From the Asus site I downloaded the flash and current bios files, transfered to a clean Dos floppy and after starting aflash I get the no hook message. Tried flash,aflash,pflash,pflash2, same thing. At several points I have reset cmos with the unplug, remove battery, push power button method and reset cmos to setup defaults. I have also heard about shorting two solder points on the boad(in a circle, half colored white,"clear" printed close to it) but I have not tried that. Am I missing a flash bios jumper or cmos point that needs to be changed??Could H/P have done something to prevent flashing?? This all started because I got greedy.Found out that this m/b supported up to 733 celerons and I was only running a 533.Guess who had a 733 sitting in a idle pc chips 748lmrt??Me.I pulled of the swap, booted up,and got some corrupted files.reformated the HD to do a clean 98 reload but still got corrupted files so decided to do the flas
Gaming Smartphones Tablets Windows 8 PSUs Android Your question Get the answer Tom's Hardware>Forum>Motherboards>AFLASH.EXE in DOS gives a warning "cannot find bios hoo> AFLASH.EXE in DOS gives a warning "cannot find bios hoo Tags: Asus BIOS DOS Motherboards Last response: 3 March 2006 09:47 in Motherboards Share RicVen 2 March 2006 12:52:24 NEVER MIND. I HAVE ORDERED A TYAN BOARD. I BOUGHT ASUS BECAUSE I REALIZE THEY MAKE A GREAT PRODUCT. GIVEN TIME AND PATIENCE, I COULD HAVE WORKED THROUGH ALL OF THE PROBLEMS. BUT FOR THE WAY I AM GOING, TIME WOULD BE BEYOND THE GRAVE FOR ME! THANKS In trying to upgrade my BIOS on the A8N32-SLI, I get the warning that dos cannot find the BIOS hook. What does this mean? Is my BIOS chip bad or is my software bad? I cannot install using the ALT+F2 to bring up AFLASH because ALT+F2 freezes the system and gives me a black screen. The A drive LED comes on and stays on but the screen remains black with an amber LED instead of a green LED. I tried inserting a floppy with the new BIOS on it and the system only beeps real loud but without a screen, who knows what is happening? The only way to crank it back up is to kill the power and then turn the power back on. Control+Alt+Delete does nothing. When the system starts back up, it loads my scsi drives then the BIOS and reverts back to the American Megatrends screen that loads when I first turn it on only now I get "*****WARNING: unknown processor*****" and goes on to say "The processor(s) installed in your system are not known by the BIOS. Please contact your BIOS vendor for appropriate updates. Press F1 to resume." When I press F1, the system loads Windows XP along with all of my drive files. Windows seems to work ok but I know I did something wrong along the way? I cannot work if I have to worry about the system crashing. When I press F8 to load the floppy first, the screen says BIOS loaded successfully before the floppy loads DOS. Seems to me that dos should be loaded before the BIOS in order to overwrite the BIOS? I really need help! My system: Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe board. AMD FX-60 dual core operating at 2600MHZ. 4 GB Corsair Twin 2048-3200Pro Ram. ATI Fire GL V7100 - one only. 4 each SCSI HDs. I have other devices and if you need to know, tell me, and I will post them also.
