I suddenly started having trouble with my Hauppauge WinTV PCI. I was getting error messages saying something like "Can't find filter" or something, then a series of other errors. All internet searching seemed to indicate a driver problem, but reloading drivers would not fix the problem. Turned out the WinTV card was shorting out on the neighbouring PCI card. If your VGA card does not support VMR, then chose "Allow Overlay". This driver supports either analog audio into your PC, or audio over the USB bus. Most desktop PC's and some laptop computers have a jack on their soundcard marked "Line In". If your PC or laptop has a "LineIn" jack, we recommend connecting the WinTV-USB's "analog audio output" to your sound card.
