I've looked for and found similar posts, but the suggested solutions either don't "fit" my issue exactly, and / or they are too complicated for me. Please help if you can. I am not a programmer / techie etc. Simple language will be appreciated. My system specs can be found hereinunder: When I attempt to open MS Word 2010, I get the following Error Message: "Word could not create the work file. Check the temp environment variable." Clicking "Ok" only brings temporary relief because after a few operations eg: Copy, paste, etc., the program hangs. Outlook behaves a little worse. Attempts at opening give ff message: Outlook could not create the work file. Check the temp environment variable. Clicking "Ok" seems to solve the problem but any attempt to click on and read any mail brings back the above message. Clicking "ok" at this repeated dialogue box, refuses to make the email available for reading. Instead the HourGlass appears and the program hangs. If not, then part of the email eventually becomes legible but contains loads of the following error messages within the body: "Error! Cannot read or display file." It's rare that I will be able to open more than one email without the system hanging. The entire Opening-Hanging-and-Relaunching takes "an eternity". On instructing Outlook to restart I sometimes get the following message: "Outlook experienced a serious problem with the "mobileme outlook add-in" add-in. If you have seen this message multiple times you should disable this add-in and check to see if an update is available. Do you want to disable this add-in?" Clicking "Yes" in order to disable the add-in does nothing to solve the problem. On the occasions when Outlook opens quickly and without above error message, then this is at the cost of my email Reading Pane being turned off. As you've probably guessed, turning on the Reading Pane by clicking on the "View" Drop Down Menu and then clicking on "Rea

Instead of the images "Error! Cannot read or display file." is written to the document. I tried https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-word-outlook-error-messages.986947/ many different versions of linking the image. I event put the image into the temp folder, since I saw in the logfile that the .html document is copied to that directory. It would be interessted if anybody has different experiences. . Lee Saunders, Mar 28, 2008. L . Lee Saunders Guest Everyone, I have a Word automation app where I print a number of documents to a printer driver that creates a print http://www.office-forums.com/threads/error-cannot-read-or-display-file-when-printing-from-word.2159439/ file. There are small images on some of these documents and every once in a great while instead of the image, I get this text where the image should be: "Error! Cannot read or display file" Help, these files are later printed and sent to customers. We cannot have someone check every document to find one out of 10,000 that has an error on it. -- L.
