Here is what I'm doing from the finder : menu Go->connect to server->smb://srv-fichiers1/Personnel/conujer I get an error (error code -36). But, from the finder window, if I click on Shared->All->srv-fichier1->Personnel->conujer, I have access to the directory. I don't understand why I cannot connect straight to conujer. windows mac-osx server-message-block share|improve this question http://serverfault.com/questions/186154/connecting-with-smb-from-mac-to-windows-server asked Sep 30 '10 at 10:31 Jérôme 1012 1 Can you connect to smb://srv-fichiers1/Personnel and then navigate to the conujer subfolder? –Gordon Davisson Sep 30 '10 at 15:27 @Gordon Davisson : yes I can. –Jérôme Oct 1 '10 at 14:16 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote Are you using different or saved credentials when using the file share than your own? All the PCs can connect to all of each others shared directories and connect to the Macs also. When I try to connect to the uncommunicative PC from either Mac, using 'go/connect to server' and entering smb://192.168.x.xxx (the IP address of the PC), I always get 'Error Code -36'. I have tried the following: smb://ipaddress smb://ipaddress/sharename smb://machinename/ smb://machinename/sharename None of these work, even though I can connect to all the other computers on the network using smb://ipaddress, or smb://machinename/.
