The Specified Domain Either Does Not Exist Or Could Not Be Contacted
in advance for your patience and any assistance. I am not a corporate IT manager, error code 1355 nor do I work in the IT field anymore. I usedtodo software development years back and I'm looking to get back into
The Machine Attempted To Join The Domain But Failed. The Error Code Was 1332
the IT field so I'm trying to teach myself admin and keep myself up to date on newer tech and practices. I plan on buying some books here in the near future, so I'm sure once I get the machine attempted to join the domain but failed. the error code was 5 the books, my answer will be forthcoming, but I was hoping to at least get things set up for now. I have some history in IPv4, and networking as well as system adminstration from the client side and very old exp from older server systems, never with domains. My current set up is a test bench set up I'mworkingwith to gainexperienceand understanding in my own personal home. I have multiple computers and have re-set-up an old error 1355 the specified domain pc and installed Windows Server 2012 Standard (GUI not core). Following online tutorials I got a clean installation, i have set up DHCP & DNS successfully and my other systems are currently utilizing the server for IP addressing and DNS resolution. I also installed the AD DS service and set up the domain and promoted the server to Domain Controller. I'm still new to the terms, but from what I understand, this is a new forest and currently, the only computer in the domain is my server i just set up. In case needed, here are the system specs: Server Specs: ABIT AW9D-MAX MotherboardIntel Core 2 Duo E6600 O/C @ 3GHZ4GB Memory2x256GB in raid 0 for primary OS hard drive4x500GB in raid 5 for data drive (1.5TB usable)1x3TB external for backupWindows Server 2012 Standard in GUI modeIPv4 static 192.168.0.99Computer Name: AlderanDomain: NewRepublic.local I have enabled remote desktop and I'm able to ping "Alderan" with success from my main computer, and even remote desktop in to access from my main PC with no problems. I can also map network drives that I have shared from various computers on the network. The problem is this, I am now trying to join my primary computer to the domain. The computer is an "in use" and not fresh installed PC with the following Windows 8 ProComputer Name: CoruscantWorkgroup: WorkgroupFirew

another Task Sequence (on a Lenovo M90P) and have the machine join the domain and cant get it http://www.networksteve.com/enterprise/topic.php/Can't_get_machine_to_join_the_domain_/_error_1355/?TopicId=59421&Posts=5 to work. I always end up with the following in the Task Sequence event log : ==============================[ OSDNetSettings.exe ]=========================== Command line: "osdnetsettings.exe" configure Setting %SystemRoot% to "C:\Windows" Loading existing answer file https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/5154/hostnamechanger-not-joining-domain-error-1355 "C:\Windows\panther\unattend\unattend.xml" Configuring global network settings Join type: 0 Joining domain: XXXXX Getting namespace "Microsoft-Windows-UnattendedJoin" for architecture "x86" DNS domain: DNS domain search order: IP filter sec enabled: false No adapters error code found in environment. Concerning the No Adapters found in environment, I suspected a problem with the NIC driver so I checked the network settings using F8 and when the join domain command runs, I confirmed that I the specified domain have an IP address on my network and can ping the DC. Even when the PC boots up at the end (but not on the domain) the network drivers are present and working so I dont think it is a NIC driver issue I also reapplied the NIC driver and added a reboot before adding the computer to the domain, just in case, with no luck I confirmed the account has the rights to add a computer to the domain. Also tried different OU, no OU (so it would go in Computers), still not working. I also checked the following log file and here is what I have C:\Windows\panther\unattendGC\setupact.LOG Error [DJOIN.EXE] Unattended Join: NetJoinDomain failed error code is [1355] Error [DJOIN.EXE] Unattended Join: Unable to join; gdwerror = 0x54b The file C:\Windows\Debug\Netsetup.log has nothing new but what has been done when I first created the base image (joining the domain to WORKGROUP) Does anybody have a clue of what could be the problem? I also tried to recreate and recapture the Base image, with no luck. Could that be a problem wi

Hostnamechanger not joining domain. Error 1355. This topic has been deleted. Only users with topic management privileges can see it. Scott Adams last edited by Wayne Workman We have created several images, and they download fine. Hostnamechanger does reboot system and rename the computer to the appropriate name. However, joining the domain is a different issue. Let me go into a little more detail. We have multiple sites that are subnetted out. Each scope has the 66 and 67 options set. That is not the issue. At all of our remote sites, the computer will not join the domain. The fog.log gives the error 1355 when it tries to join. However, if we use the same image on the same local subnet as the FOG server, computers join the domain fine. Same options are set here, there is no difference in the DHCP setup. At the remote sites, we can manually join the domain, we can even use the netdom command no problem. Any thoughts? I am going to have to set FOG up at our central location for something like 27 buildings soon… glad to know what to use now! At the moment, I’m sort of the lone ranger using FOG in just one building, and everyone is envious of my 4 minute image deployment time, with auto naming and auto joining to domain… and web functionality. And, the people at Acronis screwed up when my manager called them up with a list of basic questions about their network solution… and nobody he got on the phone with could give direct answers… so they missed out on something like a $50,000 sale lol. My manager wants to move forward with FOG now. :-) Was my post helpful?
