Inside the Stalk is a sliding Mechanism which looses Contact and therefor creates an implausible Signal, the official way is to replace the Stalk but Enthusiasts found its easier/cheaper to adjust/fix the sliding Mechanism instead. to work. I Have: Had both switches on the brake pedal replaced.(Mines an Auto so no clutch switch) Turned it on in Vagcom and it recognises it. Had the switch replaced by VW Haven't got an aftermarket stereo , although the one that is in does have http://www.vwt4forum.co.uk/archive/index.php/t-85036.html Gala on it.. I have a problem where my abs unit gets water in it so I have to blast the water out every now and again...brakes and abs work fine.. The guy at Vw who was looking into my fault code..which is 00671 Cruise Control Switch -E45 - Unknown Switch Position ... said he thinks that because Vagcom won't talk to my Abs controller he thinks that the ABS speed sensor is stopping the cruise from working.. Is this possible and if it is can i do anything error code to fix it...does it mean a new ABS unit.. Of all the Cruise control not working threads on here there isn't any mention of Abs or speed sensor causing a problem.. Really need help on this one I have shelled out £60 for cruise and it ain't getting used... Cheers Anthony upspex10-09-10, 21:13I doubt that abs comes into the equation but I would be looking at the speed signal. If the speed signal is missing or corrupted the cruise wont engage. Is your speedo reading normally and does the gala error code 00671 work? The fault code seems to suggest that the switch is faulty, try another one. VISION PERFORMANCE11-09-10, 00:58Vw brake switches are known to be not so good also worth looking its in the right position need to be turned till they click also check the clutch switch is working T: beachbuggyman11-09-10, 05:59Fault code 00671 refers to the cruise control switch itself. It sounds like the ECU can't figure out where it's set to! Are you sure its fitted properly? crazant11-09-10, 16:47I bought the switch 2 weeks ago from Vw and tried everything, then when it threw the 00671 error i rang VW who made me take the van in so they could " make sure switch was faulty) they tried for an hour and came up with the solution that because my Abs light was intermittently coming on ( because of the water in the ABs unit) that it must be the speed sensor in the ABS unit..I said to him that Vagcom should be good enough to know the difference between a switch fault and an ABS fault....They did put a new switch on so I believe it isn't the switch.. My van is an Auto so dosen't have a clutch switch, well it has a blank one... It must be something simple , I just want my cruise to work, it can't be that hard.... Help.... upspex11-09-10, 16:52How did you activate the cruise in the ecu? crazant11-09-10, 17:21I went into vagcom and did the login 11463 thing, it then puts a G in the engine code field, i have also checked the measuring blocks and
