to diagnose trouble spots in a given computer. The problem was, these diagnostic codes were never really documented all that well.

The codes that I am presenting here are from documents I have read through, found on the web, found in old books, documents and technical papers. As a computer technician, I rely on
Ibm Checkpoint Codes
documentation to guide me through these types of messages. Therefore, I hope to provide this to all those other technicians out there who get the opportunity to work on one of these. And, yes, people still use them and some refuse to give them up. The method for reading these codes is pretty straight forward. The first part of the error code indicates the device that is parity error message causing the trouble. The second part gives the meaning of the error. You can think of the first part as the test code and the second part as the fault code. A fault code of 00 indicates that no problem was found. Thus 200 means the system memory was tested. The 00 means that no fault was found. 201 would mean a memory error. 202 would mean memory address error; lines 00-15. This page is rather extensive and will be updated on a regular basis. Like all the other codes out there. If you know of any error codes that I am displaying incorrectly or that aren't here. Let me know and I'll get it corrected as soon as I can. Error Codes Error code Description Workaround 0x81120008 or 0x800705B4 During initial provisioning, the Microsoft retail mode service creates a Microsoft account if one is not present, communicates with the Windows Phone Store, downloads the Microsoft demo app, and 3650 oem error performs other tasks. These communications occur over any available Wi-Fi or cellular connection. Network communications can sometimes fail. When this occurs, initial provisioning fails and error code 0x81120008 is displayed. This error code is typically seen when provisioning the phone in locations with poor Internet connections. Ensure the demo phone has a fast and reliable Internet connection. In Settings > About, manually attempt to update the demo phone again. 0x80048869 On some phones, at random intervals, the phone’s date and time are reset to a time in the past (such as 8/31/2012). If this happens before initial provisioning is successfully completed, the Microsoft retail mode service will fail to create a Microsoft account and initial provisioning will also fail. In Settings > Date + time, manually set the date and time and then quickly go to Settings > About to manually update the demo phone again. 0x80070057 During device commercialization, OEMs cannot pre-pin direct website links in their Start customization. If a website link is included in the Start layout, initial provisioning will fail with error code 0x80070057. Remove the website link from the OEM Start layout. For partners that need to highlight a website from the Start screen, one of the available options is to buil
