Solved Error connecting to authd on host Posted on 2010-03-11 VMware Virtualization 2 Verified Solutions 10 Comments 1,615 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-09 We have Virtual Center 2.5 installed on a server. When trying to connect to the console for a virtual machine through the VMWare Infrastructure Client (From the Vcenter server), we get the error: Error connecting to authd on host. We get the same error when going through a webbrowser to the Virtual Center server, or directly to the ESX hosts. However it works just fine if we connect from another workstation to the Virtual Center server. I've researched and tried about everything to fix this but without luck. The VCenter server and the workstation on which it works fine are running the same version of VIC. Your help would be very much appreciated. 0 Question by:gimosuby Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 3 Best Solution bygimosuby Okay, here we go... I removed VMware Virtual Center and Virtual Infrastructure Client (VMware vCenter Server 2.5 Update 6) from the server, then downloaded the VIC from the ESX server (VMware ESX 3.5 Go to Solution 10 Comments LVL 40 Overall: Level 40 VMware 35 Virtualization 20 Message Expert Comment by:coolsport002010-03-11 Since you didn't provide what you tried, I'll post these links to see if they help: http://communities.vmware.com/message/733306;jsessionid=1488313EC3F438936D6480CFE4336999 http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/VMWare/Q_24914351.html http://communities.vmware.com/message/1325096;jsessionid=562198590FD473BEF79394C24299DE74 Another thing I would try, if you're able, is to reboot your Virt Ctr server. Also...just so I'm reading your post correct: are you saying that if you use the client on your workstation, it's fine, but if you use the client on the virt ctr server, you get that error? It doesn't work using the client on the virt ctr server, whether I connect to localhost, or remote ESX servers through client or webbrowser. When I try it from my own workstation it works fine whether I connect

on 20 October 2011 by Michele Some days ago I was preparing a new CentOS virtual machine from a template in my ESX 3.5 infrastructure, but when i was selecting the Datacenter https://itsystemsnotes.wordpress.com/ for the deployment, it appeared the following message: "Unable to migrate from esx1 http://searchvmware.techtarget.com/tip/VMware-vmkauthd-Error to esx2: Virtual Machine has 2 virtual CPUs, but the host software only supports 1. The number of virtual CPU's may be limited by the guest OS selected for the virtual machines or by the licensing for the host" My ESX 3.5 Standard licenses provide virtual machines configured to 4 vCPU. Fortunately the VMware KB error connecting saved me with this article: simply unconfigure the licenses of all the hosts from the Configuration tab, setting "Unlicensed" and then again "ESX Server Standard". As the article says, this is a workaround because "VMware is investigating an issue that causes this to occur in a VI3 environment as well" . That's all folks;) Posted in VMware | Tagged Error, KB, Licenses, Migration, Template, Tips&Tricks, vCPU, VMware | Leave error connecting to a comment Studying for VMware VCPexam Posted on 20 October 2011 by Michele Today i'd like to share with you the tricks and the most useful resources that helped me during my preparation. First of all, VCP is the first step in the path of professional certifications from VMware, dedicated to the vSphere platform. To learn more, click here . As you know, there are tons of useful resources to prepare the exam: official courses (required to access the exam!!!), manuals, online simulations, etc … For myself, I can tell you that: - The exam consists of 85 questions, single or multiple choiche, to be completed in 120 minutes (+15 minutes to survey questions), questions are very "mnemonic" ("After how many seconds the host is isolated?" "How many VMs can run on a host?") so you have to STUDY!!! - The official course does not cover all the arguments of the exam, it is quite heavy and requires knowledge about operating systems, networks, storage. It's important to build a test enviroment to study and learn better - The experience is important! On the internet you can find almost all the exam questions, but dealing with these products every day certainly helps to memorize the co
