Try cloning the VM and see if it allows you to open the console on the cloned VM. If that does not work create a new VM on the 5.5 and just add the disks to the new VM. Was this VM out of interest created on an older version of ESX and then this ESX was upgraded https://kb.vmware.com/kb/2065135 to 5.5 and now you have an issue ? http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalI... 0 Pimiento OP ratna rakesh reddy Jul 11, 2014 at 12:22 UTC Yes it was created on 5.1 and we are facing this issue since we upgraded to 5.5,we had around ten similar issues. We have been doing the steps that has been mentioned in the Article it gets resolved, but it does not stop it keeps on coming back. These VM's are running on HP hosts and we applied HP offline bundle as per their suggestion from HP. https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/536805-unable-to-connect-mks-error-connecting-to-bin-vmx-process but i doesn't stop. Do you know why do we get this error. 0 Chipotle OP Alan20 Jul 11, 2014 at 1:27 UTC If this keeps happening to the VM even after you created a new VMX and added the disks then there is something corrupting your VMX file. I have heard of this happening after an upgrade but once you create a new vmx then the issue resolves. Do you run backups regularly in your environment ? Is the storage array you have the VM's located on supported with 5.5 ? What else could be interacting with the VM's on the storage array ? 0 Pimiento OP ratna rakesh reddy Jul 11, 2014 at 3:05 UTC We have shared storage with VMFS 5 running. We have created new VMX file but it did not resolve issue. What might be that is causing to corrupt VMX file.We don't have backups running on VM level, we have backups that running inside VM using networker. 0 Chipotle OP Alan20 Jul 11, 2014 at 3:08 UTC Strange.. is it just 1 VM that has the issue or do you have multiple VM's across your 5.5 having the issue ? 0 Pimiento OP ratna rakesh reddy Jul 11, 2014 at 4:12 UTC Its for multiple VM's, but we have one VM that failed four times. In total we had issue for around 10 times since upgrade. 0 Chipotle OP Alan20 Jul 11, 2014 at 4:17 UTC Is your storage array supported with 5.5 ? This c

Would prefer to not have to do that again. My best guess is the HDDs are error connecting overtaxed and can't service the VM. I have two WD Green 2TB drives configured as a single data store that are connected directly to the MB. Also have 2 or 3 server OSs on an SSD. I've tried powering off the VM but it is stuck at 95%. In the past hard resetting the host has resolved the issue but I dont error connecting to view this as an acceptable solution would like to determine the root cause so as to remedy it rather than bandaid it. Not educated on which logs to look at.Online resources haven't been super helpful. I've also heard the Green drives can be problematic. Any advice? Screenshot:Capture.jpg Sorry if it's too small. I suppose if I can't resolve the problem I'll chalk it up to a storage error and shell out for this Whitebox SAN Quote Login/register to remove this advertisement. tomtom1 Senior Member Join Date Feb 2014 Posts 374 Certifications JNCIP,SP, JNCIS-SP, CCNP, VCAP5-DCA, VCP5, MCITP 2008 SA, CCNA 03-13-201407:18 PM #2 You could kill the VMX process: VMware KB: Powering off an unresponsive virtual machine on an ESX host Quote tstrip007 Senior Member Join Date May 2013 Location Birmingham, AL Posts 279 Certifications VCP5-DCV 03-14-201401:50 AM #3 Don't know what version ESXi you have installed but have you tried the suggested patch?
