I had UltraVNC-100-RC203 installed on a Win2003 server. It http://www.winvistatips.com/threads/cannot-connect-to-console-session.649658/ worked fine but there were some probs with Remote Desktop as already described in this forum. Now I downloaded "UltraVNC-1.0-Setup.exe" from www.uvnc.com, uninstalled the RC203 (reboot) and installed the 1.0 version (reboot). error connecting Note: I did not uninstall the hook driver seperately I simply used the Uninstall option of UVNC with following reboot. There is/was no additional Remove option for the hook driver. New version of Ultra VNC is working fine but unfortunately now Remote Desktop fails permanently. On the RD session I get the Login prompt. I enter name and password. Screen becomes dark-grey and it takes error connecting to much longer as usual before something happenes. What will happen then is that the screen is still dark gray but I get an error message: Logon Connection Failed Error connecting to existing session for
am attempting to connect to the console session of a remote SBS2003 R2 server. I can rdp fine to the server but when I use mstsc /console to connnect via the console i get the following message: Error connecting to existing session for username (Id 0). The operation completed successfully. Then all i can click is OK and it closes the connection. I successfully get the login scree and can login and I have tried a few different accounts but I always get the same message. Any ideas? Shane Shane, Mar 20, 2007 #1 Advertisements Dave Nickason [SBS MVP] Guest What happens if you TS into the non-console session and open Terminal Services Manager. Select your SBS and under Users, do you see any sessions other than your own (the one you just logged in with)? You'll probably be session 1, so if someone is logged into session 0, you can disconnect that session from the r-click menu. Anything in the system or application logs? It's likely that others know a lot more about this than I do, and hopefully someone will post in a better idea, but if you don't get in after verifying and/or disconnecting an existing session 0, I'd probably reboot the server next (keeping in mind that you might have to drive over there if that doesn't work).
