They could not enable the vSphere Update Manager plug-in. The icon of VUM disappeared. I solved this https://up2v.wordpress.com/2013/06/13/there-was-an-error-connecting-to-vmware-vsphere-update-manager-fault-hostnotreachable-summary/ by doing the steps below: Navigate to the folder: C:Program Files (x86)VMwareInfrastructureUpdate Manager Open with notepad the file vci-integrity.xml and search for the parameter , and make sure the address listed here is the error connecting IP-address of the vCenter Server. Save the vci-integrity.xml file Now restart the “VMware vSphere Update Manager Service” service For some reason an old IP-address was listed although the customer stated the IP-address was not changed.
