Solved Runtime Error 20534: Error detected by database DLL Posted on 2004-03-12 Crystal Reports 1 Verified Solution 5 Comments 7,993 Views Last Modified: 2011-09-20 Folks, I error detected have deveoped a VB6 application and reports using CR4.6. When I run the app, I have no problem like preview CR report, print., etc on a development machine which is XP machine. After I made a package using MS PDW, and installed on a XP(fresh new) machine to test the package. I have the "Error 20534 detected by database DLL" when I tried to preview the CR error detected by report as I did on the development machine. To fix this, I installed VB6(as one of hundred things I tried) on that fresh XP machine, then the error was gone. So I guess that some of DLLs or OCXs that comes with VB6 CD may resolve the prpblem. But I don't know which DLL or OCX or else??? (By the way, I used Acces 97 since CR4.6 does not support Access2000). Since it works OK on your machine, then I suspect missing dlls to be the cause. Did you create an installation package for your app? Try to see what dependencies are missing from your app by using depends.exe, which can be found here (http://www.dependencywalker.com/). naramir10-05-2005, 03:41 PMThis seems like a familiar CR error. Try to see what dependencies are missing from your app by using depends.exe, which can be found here (http://www.dependencywalker.com/). i downloaded that depwalker but i cant make heads or tails of waht i need to do.. i opened my exe that i createed in vb and at the botton of it it gave me this :Warning: At least one module has an unresolved import due to a missing export function in a delay-load dependent module. i created an install package for my app.... i have another question... do i need to install the app on every machine>? since it is put on a server (thats where it is installed to , the database exe app mdb) so it adds all the ocx and dlls that that computer needs? most others say yes to do this and some say that i dont need to do this that just map the exe form that computer???? this has been a headache from the start of these *&&^^&(@ reports... :) .... thanks... randem10-05-
