With the help of Adobe support, I have finally gotten CF8.0.1 up and running on the new server: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/470337?tstart=0,I am now trying to connect CF8.0.1 Standard on the new x64 machine to SQLServer 2005 x64 bit. All of the databases I'm trying to setup on the new server

are currently running on a x32 system with CF8.0.1 and SQLServer 2005 x32. Using the SQLServer drive type I get the following error:"Connection verification failed for data source: PHREDsevenSQLjava.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver]Error establishing socket to host and port: DELLx64Server:1433. Reason: Connection refused: connect."Using the ODBC Socket type I do not get a ODBC DSN name in the select box so I can't actually try this type of connection. I've tried both x32 and x64 bit ODBC System setups.I have verified the following:SQLServer configuration: the port is set to 1433.Account user name and password are correct. I have looked for a x64 bit SQLServer driver for CF8 on Adobe, but couldnt find one. Perhaps one is already installed. If anyone has a suggestion or solution, I would appreicate your help. Reason: Connection refused: connect You can see a connection issue with the datasource, with a failure to connect on the socket using the localhost (127.0.0.1) and port number (1433). https://forums.adobe.com/thread/477860 By default, SQL Server 2008 doesn't have the port number enabled. To resolve the issue, open up your SQL Server Configuration Manager application (Programs -> Microsoft SQL Server 2008 -> Configuration Tools -> SQL Server Configuration Manager). Expand the SQL Server Network Configuration menu item, and click on the Protocols option for the server, which will display the list https://www.monkehworks.com/local-sql-server-2008-coldfusion-datasource/ of protocols in the main window: Right-click on the TCP/IP option, and select 'properties' from the context menu, which will open up the properties window. Change the 'Enabled' option to YES under the 'Protocol' tab. Selecting the 'IP Addresses' tab, you can see the TCP Port for all IP references is set to 1433, the default port. You can also set the 'Enabled' option for the IP1 and IP2 options to 'YES' here as well. Click 'Apply' to save your changes. The changes are now saved, but you will need to restart the SQL Server service before they take effect. To do so, select the 'SQL Server Services' option in the config manager, and select the SQL Server item from the list. Click the 'Restart service' icon on the toolbar (circled). Back into the ColdFusion Administrator, verify the connections again, and the new SQL Server datasource should be OK now that the ports have been opened on the database server. cfmx, sql server Are you getting the error, "Connection refused" or "Error establishing socket to host and port", trying to connect to a SQL Server database from ColdFusion? The http://www.carehart.org/blog/client/index.cfm/2006/7/8/sql2k5_error_establishing_socket short answer is: Open the "SQL Server Configuration Manager" in SQL Server, then "SQL Server Network Configuration", and its "Protocols For [yourserver]" option. Open it and ensure that TCP/IP is enabled as a https://community.oracle.com/thread/2265799 protocol. If not, enable it, and restart SQL Server. And if it is enabled, right-click on that TCP/IP option, choose the "IP Addresses" tab, and among the listed features, check if "ipall" (among error establishing the last in the list) has the port set to 1433 (or whatever is your SQL Server port), then restart SQL Server. More detail below. If you don't want to enable the "ipall" option, check the other entries to find the IP you're using, and ensure it's "enabled" and the "tcp port" is set to 1433. And if it's "still not working" after you make these error establishing socket changes, do make sure that the problem is not that you're now getting a different error, like "Cannot open database "yourdbname" requested by the login. The login failed." :-) That just means you have a new and different problem to solve, now that this one is resolved. The rest of this entry explains additional details, such as how to find and make that change, what specific errors you get, and how I found the information, in case any of it helps others. I should add that this worked for SQL Server 2005 and 2008. (I don't have SQL 2000 against which to test how things are similar or different, but I do point to some old CF docs that may apply to that version.) Update: while I wrote this post in 2006, for CF 6/7 and SQL Server 2005, it applies generally to later versions of both. The Errors You May See To help ensure that future readers can find this entry more readily when doing web searching, let me offer details on the error. The problem I'm referring to is if you get any of the following errors. In the CF admin (7 and above), when

With a default installation, you cannot remotely connect to SQL Server Express. You will need to enable TCP/IP and check if the firewall is enabled. To enable TCP/IP: From the Start menu, choose All Programs, point to Microsoft SQL Server 2005, point to Configuration Tools, and then click SQL Server Configuration Manager. Optionally, you can open Computer Manager by right-clicking My Computer and choosing Manage. In Computer Management, expand Services and Applications, expand SQL Server Configuration Manager. Expand SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration, and then c
