zero by zero, the result comes up as #Error. Is there a way I can tell Access, if dividing by zero, the result is zero? Answer: You can use the iif function in your Access query to handle these cases. We'll demonstrate how to do this with the example below. In this example, we've used the iif function to return 0 if the [Quantity] is 0. Otherwise, it would return the value of [Price] divided by [Quantity]. This is achieved with the following formula: IIf([Quantity]=0,0,[Price]/[Quantity]) Now, your Access query should no longer return an error when a [Quantity] of 0 is encountered. Access 2003: How to fix a Compile error.in query expression Error This MSAccess tutorial explains how to fix a compile error.in query expression error in Access 2003 https://www.techonthenet.com/access/queries/divide_by_zero.php (with screenshots and step-by-step instructions). Question: In Microsoft Access 2003/XP/2000/97, I tried using the Left function in a query and I get the following error: "Compile error.in query expression" I've seen this function work in other Access databases. How come it does not work in mine? Answer: This error can be caused by multiple scenarios. https://www.techonthenet.com/access/questions/compile_error.php Let's look at two of the most common causes. Option #1 This error can occur when there is a broken Reference in your Access database and you've tried to use one of the built-in Access functions such as Left, Instr, Len, Year, Mid, etc. To correct the problem, you need to open your Access database. Press Alt+F11 to open the Microsoft Visual Basic window. When the Microsoft Visual Basic window appears, select References under the Tools menu. When the References window appears, check to see if there are any References checked that start with "MISSING:". If there are any, uncheck these References. Then click on the OK button. In this example, we want to uncheck the reference called "MISSING: Microsoft Word 9.0 Object Library". If you, in fact, need this Reference, go back to the References window (Tools > References) and re-check the reference. Click on the OK button. Now your Access database should have fixed the broken references and the e

Error: "Function is not available in expressions in query expression" P: n/a deko After developing an MDB in Access 2003 on WS03, then making it into an MDE and deploying it on a WinXP box with Access 2003 installed, I get this error: Function is not available in expressions in query expression [below is full query that appears in part in the error message] SELECT IIf(IsNull([Address1]),"",[Address1] & Chr(13) & Char(10)) & IIf(IsNull([Address]),"",[Address] & Char(13) & Char(10)) & IIf(IsNull([Address]),"",[Address] & Char(13) & Char(10)) & IIf(IsNull([City]),"",] & IIf(IsNull([State]),"",", ") & ] & " " & [Zip]) & Char(13) & Char(10) & IIf(IsNull([Country]),"",]) AS txtAddress, Add_ID FROM bladders WHERE Entity_ID=Wryer("form","Entity_ID") ORDER BY Primary; I searched the MS Knowledgebase, but found nothing. From what I've discovered from other resources on the web, this may have something to do with either the version of the Expression Service DLL, or an MDAC service pack. I tried installing the latest JET service pack, but that did not help. I also tried copying the expsrv.dll from the development box to the deployment box, but that did not help. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with other (seemingly unrelated) references. Here's a list of references on the development box: ?ReferenceInfo Reference: VBA Location: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VBA\VBA6\VBE6.DLL Reference: Access Location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\MSACC.OLB Reference: stdole Location: C:\WINDOWS\system32\stdole2.tab Reference: DAO Location: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DAO\DAO360.DLL Reference: ADODB Location: C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\ado\ms
